The Holy Grail Torture Report is the one in which the CIA determined that no terrorist plot on US soil was ever thwarted because of torture. This puts to rest Cheney's lie that torture "saved hundreds of thousands of lives".

There is no doubt that torture did yield some useful information, but that information could have been obtained in other ways. The bottom line is that, when we engage in torture, we show that we are no better than our enemies. And PULEEZE - Do not give me that BS line that torturing just a little, while our enemies torture a lot, makes us a better nation. It doesn't, pure and simple. It makes is just like them, and I refuse to let this be done in my name, or the name of any other American. That is why I have always spoken out against torture of any kind. We are America, dammit, so let's act like Americans instead of Nazis, Communists, and Jihadists.

So who are the cheerleaders for torture? Dick "5 Deferments" Cheney for one. So is Bill O'Reilly, who claimed on his radio show that he was going to allow himself to be waterboarded for charity. Weeks after having made this offer, he still has not made arrangements for his own waterboarding. And that makes him not only a chickenhawk, but it makes him a big ***** too. I mean, how hard is it to be waterboarded by people you know, who will stop the minute you let out so much as a wimper? Not hard for anybody who is not a big *****. It just seems to me that those calling for torture the most are the biggest ******s, who did not serve, and yet talk "big", while practicing "little".

Action talks and BS walks.

But back to the issue at hand. Cheney lied yet again, and the smoking gun revealing that lie is now public domain. Right now, it really sucks to be Dick Cheney.

I can hear it now...
."Dana you wouldn't know a REALITY FACT if jumped up and HIT YOU WITH A 2LB HAMMER IN YOUR NOSE! You failed reading comprehension apparently because the article says the report said is was DIFFICULT TO CONCLUDE if actually stopped attacks...that's not the same as saying torture DIDN'T stop attacks. The FACT is they did stop hundreds of attacks on U.S. soil and you can't prove Dick Cheney wrong. You people are in serious DENIAL of the FACTS which by the way I have given you! You libtards are in such DENIAL of REALITY and FACTS that you don't ever comprehend reading comprehension! I've been beating you in the face and elbows with FACTS AND REALITY on a daily BASIS!

BUSH took action while OBAMA was busy attacking our troops...Bush was doing something about terrorism while CLINTON was getting his dick sucked and Obama was probably buying crack from his Kenyan French Connection. In 1998 Clinton was raping his interns Bush was flying recon over Yemen and DOING SOMETHING about terrorism. What you libtards don't get is that in REALITY the FACTS I'm slapping you in the lower back with are what you are in DENIAL of! I laugh at you because you are a characickachuture of your own libtardedness. While you are busy MURDERING our troops with your defeatism and suckling to the Dear Leader Conservatives are out there keeping this nation SAFE and taking the world BACK FROM THE ENEMY!

You liberal libtards are so pathetic it requires the willful suspension of disbelief in order to pee your pants when Dick Cheney gets ON TV!!! You have no FACTS, i have all of the FACTS and I will slap you in your Democratic face every day for LIFE! Carry on you liberal assclown liberals, I'll just say this. I've beaten you with FACTS again and the REALITY IS YOU ARE IN DENIAL OF THE FACTS. Carry on!"

Hopefully this will put this nonsense to rest. Torture is nothing more than pointless cruelty. The United States is not a country that takes the defense of its citizens lightly, and we have a pile of corpse we killed using remote-controlled flying robots to prove it. We defeated Great Britain, Nazi Germany and even our own brothers without torture, and those were far greater threats than the tiny handful of terrorists we face today. There are many versions of the quote "those who give up liberty for safety deserve neither" but what kind of coward gives us liberty without even getting safety in return?

I'm reserving judgment until I can read more specifics. The article is mostly celebrating having some ammunition against Cheney, even though the report hasn't even been released.

Yeah the WH releasing a document it likes instead of the documents requested will really end this.

Its also obviously a blog form a Bush hater who is assuming. Not quite as badly as you are but still..and if you go to the source he/she is overplaying it alot while ignoring everything else.

You'll be lucky if this makes it past Far Left blogs and even if it does all it does is give Obama's targets more ammo to shoot back with.

I used to think that we were better than our enemies because we didn't resort to the same barbatic tactics (torture) that they used.

I was really shocked to find out that that hasn't been true.

IMO, when we stoop to the level of the terrorists in our tactics, even in a little way, then we have become like them, and they'll have won the war on terror.

A blog post is all it takes to get you excited dan? A report from 5 years ago....

It's not the holy grail, it just happens to be one that says what the administration wants to have out there, to appeal to thsoe that want to hear "torture" doesn't work. Congratz, they are playing a political ploy, and you, the target audience lap it up.

2004? Seriously? You're excited by a 5 year old report? Are you all that easily fooled? This isn't about "trorture" this is about giving cover to the President for political games, not anything to do with the truth.

FFS, don't be so... malleable.

I am going to release a report that states I am the master of the universe. Therefore it must be true!

I googled is "Hellhound He-man" and it redirected me to "she-male". Sorry Charlie.

Many picture the Good Reverend in thier own tastes/fetishes. "she-male" is a new one though.... But whatever turns you on my friend.

Now why am I suddenly reminded of Claude Rains' character in Casablanca, who was "shocked, SHOCKED, to find gambling" in Rick's nightclub (as he pocketed the night's winnings)?

War is a barbaric business, and America has been rather good about mastering its barbarism--from torturing Nazis (we did), to firebombing civilians (Tokyo and Dresden), to nuking civilians (duh!). We've done the concentration camp bit (Manzanar) with its associated ethnic cleansing. Hell, if you want to get technical about it, thanks to Waco we've even used chemical weapons against Americans the way Saddam did Iraqis.

Just where do folks get this tripe about American moral superiority?

Shemales, and trannies..... Your browsing history must be rather shocking.

1. This may be a blog, but if you actually read the article it sources the Washington Post for its main point:

Government officials familiar with the CIA's early interrogations say the most powerful evidence of apparent excesses is contained in the "top secret" May 7, 2004, inspector general report, based on more than 100 interviews, a review of the videotapes and 38,000 pages of documents. The full report remains closely held, although White House officials have told political allies that they intend to declassify it for public release when the debate quiets over last month's release of the Justice Department's interrogation memos.

2. First, the burden of proof that "torture works" has been on the torture mongers for going on 7 years now, and yet in all that time nobody has been able to produce any evidence that torture has saved any lives. Now you people are claiming that the WH is cherry-picking certain reports to withhold evidence that would show "hundreds of thousands" of lives were saved by torture. The burden of proof is on you again, but I won't hold my breath. Your failed theories are based on lies and more failed theories. Don't be so malleable.

"torture mongers" I love that.

Shoudl we call those against EIT... "terrorist enablers"?

The burden of proof is what's happened? 2001 9/11 goes down, we're told AQ is poised to hit us again. THEY admit 9/11 was just the opening act...

haven't been hit since. KSM, a man in the know, captured, waterboarded, and information from him helps to put a serious hurt on AQ operations.

Now, you can say that this did nothing, results matter. That's the end story.

Malleable would the Madame DeFarges howling for Bush's blood. Or have you forgotten that Dear Leader and his intelligence chiefs have already gone on record as acknowledging the efficacy of the techniques used? That point has already been established as "proved."

It works. The debate is not now (and never really was) about that non-point.

Who are these "government officials"? Don't be so "maliable".:2wave:

Truth is, this is old news. It is public and common knowledge that no serious attacks or threats were prevented by any of that illegal torture. ["Is there any other kinnnnnd?" :) ] If this were the case, Cheney and Bush would have leaked that classified info a lonnnnng time ago. The mere fact that it might be classified certainly never stopped them before. :2wave:

Yes, war is indeed an ugly business, and we have some less than proud moments in our country's history. We have usually dealt with that by not condoning the bad behavior, not condone it.

Recently, there have been people trying to make the recent torture of terror suspects a kind of virtue, even a patriotic action and a virtue. Barf.

ooh speculation, fun!

Hopefully this will put this nonsense to rest.

Unfortunately, nothing will ever put the nonsense to rest. Cognitive dissonance is apparently an innate and thoroughly ingrained survival mechanism in our species.
