When you have a populace like Americans, a people that could do more good for one another, etc. And they, rather than do good, try to subject one another so that they can have less meanwhile they will have more and this is a social norm. I don't blame aliens for avoiding us.

I believe the Fermi paradox is that intelligent life that has not overcome group violence destroys itself in the nuclear age protecting the galaxy from violent cultures. This is because nuclear technology is easier than FTL. So it is logical that aliens would monitor intelligent cultures to see which way they will go.
