Which state is better: Oklahoma or Massachusetts?

Which state is better?

  • Mass for travel, Oklahoma for living.

    Votes: 0 0.0%

  • Total voters
    35
The only one that Oklahoma wins on (unless you are a farmer or rancher) is cost of living.

I think a better comparison would be to compare Utah to Massachusetts.
I picked those two states because they are ideologically different. Oklahoma is conservative, no matter where you go. Mass is liberal everywhere. NY, California and Texas are safe states when it comes to the highest elected offices, but there are very red areas of NY and California, and very blue areas of Texas.

That is true, but “cheaper” doesn’t mean better. Oklahoma is a high crime state, high poverty state, low GDP, and lacks a quality healthcare system. Mass is a terrific state to visit and live. It is clean with walk ability. Oklahoma is very flat and rural.
Thanks. I had no idea.

Whoa... someone get me some... 🍿

Oklahoma and Massachusetts are polar opposites of each other. 66% of Oklahoma's voting population went for Donald Trump in the election and he won every county in the state. In Massachusetts, Kamala Harris won 61% of the vote and captured every county.

The top branches (Governor, 2 Senators) in Oklahoma are Republicans, and the top branches in Massachusetts are Democrats.

Which state do you think is better? Both in terms of livability and vacation.

Poverty - 45th for Oklahoma, 14th Massachusetts
Education - 47th for Oklahoma, 1st Massachusetts
Healthcare - 50th for Oklahoma, 1st Massachusetts
Economy (GDP) - 30th Oklahoma, 12th Massachusetts

My sources: Economy, Poverty, Education, Healthcare
All the States are equal under federalism. Stop the tribalsim.

I've lived in Oklahoma for most my life and also have visited Massachusetts (specifically Boston). And if anyone says Oklahoma they are either lying or stupid.

Culture and Food - Massachusetts
City life - Massachusetts
History - debatable
Sports - I'd take Oklahoma but that's probably because I'm from here
Schools - Massachusetts all day
Healthcare - Massachusetts all day
Infrastructure - Massachusetts all day but Oklahoma has improved in recent years

Not really a fair fight, is it?

Are you moving?
Much of it depends on where you live in a state. It's not all equal. Oklahoma has a large population of native Americans living on Reservations. These people are largely ignored by any government and the Federal Government has shirked its promises since being forced to relocate to OK.
I would live in Tulsa before I would live in Boston.
I would live in a smaller town in Massachusetts before I would live in a smaller town in Oklahoma.

Oh, you forgot something, Massachusetts has double the homeless rate of OK.
Oh, something else, Massachusetts is near the top for income disparity among the states. NY holds the number 1 spot.

Are you afraid of homeless people? These states have a high GDP — that brings in things.

Dracut, Fall River, Canton, Stoughton - not particularly liberal. I knew Trump was going to win in 2016, in part, because of Dracut.

This isn't true at all. I live in the Northabama of New England, and while the mountains and wilderness rock, it is undeniably true that getting sick in small town Mass is entirely a different prospect from getting sick in small town NH.

If you run for office in MA, you can still afford your life. You cannot really run for office in NH unless you can already pay for three or four lives.

There is no State in the US that has good Healthcare coverage. People die in every State for lack of money.
Needing high amounts of money to run for office is a country wide problem, including MA.

We are looking at two states based on how conservative and liberal they are. The two states were the farthest apart.

So basically this poll/thread had nothing to do with the states. The question is who are better? Liberals or Conservatives?

The poll results haven't really been stunning.

(Reality is that both states are pretty cool. Massachusetts is beautiful. Atlantic shoreline. Nice people. Glorious drives. Tons of history. Eastern Oklahoma has wonderful mountains and camping. Tulsa is an Art Deco goldmine. More nice people. Etc.)

Stereotypes seem to dominate perceptions more than they should.

..

Not afraid at all.
With such a great GDP you'd think they could assist the unhoused much more effectively.

Great summation using reality.

Mass is 24th in crime and Oklahoma is 36th. Mass is a safer place to live to. I bet there are plenty of programs, but people have choices in life.

This has everything to do with “better state”. I previously did New York vs. Florida. Oklahoma and Mass were picked because it was “most conservative” vs “most liberal”. The politics of the state was the main reason for matchup. Nobody is saying that Oklahoma doesn’t have its charms.

Is 24th in crime a good thing in the States?

It's about you attempting to associate yourself with something "better than others".

This is pretty obvious. Nobody ever wrote a song about Massachusetts, so OK is is.

Each State is represented by crooked elected officials. Both live in the realm of authority. Both have major differences in terrain.

As for the citizens educated as a group. OK is corn fed beef, MA is grass fed beef.

I don't know any Mass jokes but I know Ok jokes

How do you find Oklahoma from Arkansas? Go west 'til you smell shit.

Why doesn't Texas slide off into the Gulf? Oklahoma sucks
