Nero, was among the craziest Roman Emperors, who burned down Rome and his country to build new palaces etc. - similar to Trump burning down the US economy right now to "rebuild it".

Caligula, another maniac Roman Emperor, who (like Trump's 1st term) started promisingly into his reign, but became more and more autocratic and dictatorial. He then even wanted to promote his preferred racing horse to the post of "consul" (a government member), similar to Trump promoting his preferred billionaire race horse Elon Musk to oversee DOGE.

These are the most prominent Roman Emperor comparisons that come to mind, maybe you have others ?

Is that where the polite name of the porcelain convenience comes from?

Especially the orange part.

😂

That one is too close to call...

Commodus.
How did the Roman Empire survive so long with the number of apparent mad ****wits they had for Emperor?

Edit: Wait, hold on, I've got it - they had other power bases who could check them.

Sloppily and messily, with much death and unrest, perhaps.

But still check.

Hi Branson,

Short list to vote from. All thee of them are equally horrible people. But at least Caligula knew how to have fun... That is a concept unknown to your Fuhrer.

Marcus Aurelius, of course.

(That should ruffle the feathers on the usual ornithological posters. 🤣)

Definitely. Trump is a Stoic like the emperor. And I'm sure Trump has read the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius several times.🙄

No one can deceive themselves like MAGA.

Hi Verrip 1,

Lol. You're naming about the only Roman Emperor who had both respect, wisdom, and a certain calm over himself. I do not see how any of those things could be applicable here...

I'm not an historian. Which Roman emperor was the least intelligent?
