The country's name changed from Burma to Myanmar in 1989, but world leaders have been slow to adopt it. So, should it be Burma or Myanmar?

Who cares? It is still a third world disaster in the middle of a decades old civil war most probably have no idea is *still* going on.

They can call themselves Burma, Myanmar, Jack****astan, or anything else dreamed up... and you are still standing in the middle of a humanitarian fiasco.

I say both. Depends on the situation. My friends I have travelled there with usually say Burma and Rangoon, so I use those names when talking to them. When in the country or talking to randoms or family about travel usually say Myanmar and Yangon in most situations.

Burma until the people of that country evince a clear desire to change. The resistance to accepting the name change has been because we generally refuse to acknowledge the right of the dictatorial junta to make these kinds of changes on behalf of the entire nation.
