How many anti trans threads have you seen here?Tilting at windmills, I see?
How many anti trans threads have you seen here?
And you just illustrated that you missed the point. You would have to first convince me that recognizing a person's biological sex qualifies as "oppression".
And you just illustrated that you missed the point.
That's not exactly how it reads...leave it to the KJV to screw it up...Jesus was referring to paying taxes...Jesus accepted the power structure and social order of the world as it was and instructed his disciples to do the same in Mark chapter 12 verses 14-17:
“And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.
And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.”
The question of taxes has a deeper meaning. The Pharisees were hoping that Jesus would say the Roman taxes should not be paid thereby promoting sedition by challenging the authority of the Roman Emperor and Roman rule. The entire point of their questioning was to lead him into a confession of a crime. But they were confounded because Jesus never had any intention of leading or inspiring a revolution against the political or social order. That's not exactly how it reads...leave it to the KJV to screw it up...Jesus was referring to paying taxes...
New International Version
They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?
New Living Translation
“Teacher,” they said, “we know how honest you are. You are impartial and don’t play favorites. You teach the way of God truthfully. Now tell us—is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?
English Standard Version
And they came and said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are true and do not care about anyone’s opinion. For you are not swayed by appearances, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?”
Berean Standard Bible
“Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are honest and seek favor from no one. Indeed, You are impartial and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay them or not?”
New American Standard Bible
They came and said to Him, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and do not care what anyone thinks; for You are not partial to anyone, but You teach the way of God in truth. Is it permissible to pay a poll-tax to Caesar, or not?
NASB 1995
They came and said to Him, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and defer to no one; for You are not partial to any, but teach the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to pay a poll-tax to Caesar, or not?

And they came and said to Him, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful, and defer to no one; for You are not partial to any, but teach the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to pay a poll-tax to Caesar, or not?

Only for comparison to other versions...it is one of the least accurate translations there is...I thought JW used the KJV?
Hmmm... interesting. What is the best translation?Only for comparison to other versions...it is one of the least accurate translations there is...
Well, now you already know my answer...I prefer the NWT because it uses God's name in every place the Tetragrammaton was in manuscripts and it also uses the original words Sheol/Hades/Gehenna/Tartarus instead of hell like the KJV but the Bible in Living English is decent, as well as the Emphasized Bible and the American Standard...Hmmm... interesting. What is the best translation?

I don't know that chapter of the Bible.Tilting at windmills, I see?
And that, folks, is how one takes Jesus's message and convolutes it to allow hate and oppression. If you actually seriously study the bible most of it is about you and how you can be accountable to yourself and others while serving God as your savior and spreading the word of God. Jesus understood sin, vices, and the human condition. It's far more complex than unconditional love, blind generosity, and helping people destroy themselves. Despite of what people say, religion has a far better track record of actually helping and saving people because they know how people think and behave.
I don't know that chapter of the Bible.
Or are you just mad that Jesus isn't a hater?
He also advocated following the law. He also loves everyone but doesn't allow those who sin and do not ask forgiveness and give themselves to him to join him in heaven.Well that leaves all these stingy Republicans out.
