Somebody gave it as a gift. The ones who praise it most are the Ellis Island generation onward, since they most benefited from it.

There's a statue in front of the court which shows blindfolded lady holding scales of justice, to communicate that justice is blind.

Is this correlation or causation? That is an overly simplistic way of asking is the issue being in a diverse society or is the issue our political divisions and their responses to the social experiment of putting people in conditions outside of what they are accustomed to the real issue?

Because we have seen the pitfalls of forced segregation and perhaps, just perhaps, are seeing some of the pitfalls of influenced, if nor forced, diversity conditions. The better alternative to shaming anyone going against the aspired to social experiment conclusion us to help the person. Without the confines of something that classifies them to the delight of political divisions that is also inherently adversarial to diversity in society.

The rhetoric that being against a liberal view of diversity automatically makes that person a racist, as a scarlet letter of sorts, did not work. Sure modern liberalism suggests using the idea as a means to create second class citizenship for those who disagree with the social experiment but does that really advance anything. If there is any truth to the study referenced by the OP the answer is a resounding no, even if modern liberalism champions the hatred that is a flip side of the same coin white nationalism enjoys.

The point being shaming people into a societal standard did not work. Without legitimate interest in dealing with all the things that divide us then all forced diverse societies yields is a pressure cooker that will eventually explode. We see it, we see the extreme responses all to often now. But worse, the concept of social controls to the point that one aspect of society can be elevated, can be helped, can receive assistance and another cannot entirely because of some attribute inherently creates the exact opposite of diversity and inclusion. It creates politically decided exclusion.

And then we wonder why these experiments fail resulting in just as much division, distrust, likely conflict, etc. now as the alternative did before. Inherent to multiculturalism is that no one culture is above anyone else, until we learn that lesson there is no real reason to go with forced segregation or forced diversity. People have to choose, not politics that all evidence supporting has made a mess of this even if one side is happy with the result. Sort of.

We should not ever aspire to go backwards, but going forwards has to be more than another round of how to exclude someone. Which ironically was goal of the past.

Oh forget it, lets just have another pride month in <insert attribute here,> rip down a statue somewhere, make sure the elites wear a pin or ribbon, and have another round of finding out how and who to brand as some negative to the social experiment and that'll fix it all.
