It's coming down to voting time soon, people. I'm optimistic that GOP will stick together enough to get this distinguished judge confirmed.

What will you do if/when Judge Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed to the Supreme Court?

Me - I'm gonna have some beers!

(I'm still gonna remember in November, though) :peace

Ramp up my GOTV efforts.

Diane Feinstein has just done a huge amount of that for Republicans - you may not be able to match her :lamo

Other than be glad that last minute bogus allegations didn't stop him from being confirmed? Nothing probably.

Laugh at haymarket, then have a cold one.

I'm doing Sober October, but I'll break my sobriety to celebrate that one.

We have the GOP to thank for all the Citizens United judges.

Let us also remember that in Lawrence vs Texas where a gay man was arrested for having sex in his own home, it was 3 conservative judges who supported Texas' outrageous sodomy law.

American conservatives don't believe in freedom unless you're talking about the freedom to own lots of guns.

What will I do? Sit back and wait to see what sort of extremist response the left comes up with.

Actually, the confirming of Kavanaugh is probably very good news for Democratic turnout in four weeks. So your laughter will likely be in front of your own mirror.

Kavanaugh would be in for life, whereas any Democrats elected in November would only be in for 6 years. Economy's doing great, national and international security's doing much better, and the overall trends are quite good.

So I can see Trump doing as well as Reagan in their respective re-election bids.

Get some popcorn and watch the TDS melt down get even better.

Not much, either way.

As for the leftists...how do you get MORE triggered than they already are?

do judges put laws on the books? or rule on laws already on the books?

just remember their role...okay

And there was a law in Texas that made it illegal for a gay man to have sex with another gay man in his own home.

Do you really need to be a constitutional scholar to realize that such a law is unconstitutional?

This is an example of a great conservative constitutional scholar:

Justice Antonin Scalia made headlines today when he implied the Constitution doesn't give anybody a right to engage in "homosexual sodomy."

The outspoken justice's anti-gay sentiment runs pretty deep and is shockingly apparent in a dissent he wrote back in 2003 when the court struck down Texas' sodomy law.

Feel that once more, my lack of faith in the basic decency of people has been affirmed.

Except with a very tiny list of exceptions, those representatives of the "right" that I have interacted with are complete hypocrites (proudly so) and without honor. Anything the rest has said they cared about in the last two years, they did not care about two years before that. Or vice versa.

Honest and fair analysis in judiciary, FISA courts, extent of government surveillance, powers of FBI/CIA, any thing.

Take FISA courts: The people who made all the noise here about the Carter Page FISA warrant made no such noises about how FISA courts are supposedly rubber-stamps in the past. Hell, they stopped once RW media stopped spewing its defensive lies on the subject. I don't recall seeing one single thread addressing ANY single case of FISA-authorized surveillance here. I do not recall seeing one single thread recently on how to perhaps fix up FISA courts.

The concern only existed as long it was beneficial to Trump for that concern to exist.

But it's not just Trump. Government surveillance.

It was fine and necessary under Bush. Oh, and terrorists are scary so the supposed small government ideologues decided they would have no problem with their government torturing a person not convicted of a crime so long as the government claimed that person was a terrorist. That's literal 1984 territory. That's literal authoritarian regime territory. That is exactly what the very worst governments do: this man is an enemy of the state, so we shall disappear him. All bets are off once the label gets applied.

But under Obama? Well, we find out that all along the government had been abusing its powers - because duh - and so suddenly there is a tremendous outrage on the right. Suddenly government surveillance has gone too far and needs to be stopped.

And now.....? Well, not a peep about anti-terrorist surveillance. Not one peep. But what do we get?

Well, now we are to believe that the FBI, CIA, and any other intelligence agency is all part of a grand conspiracy. In this grand conspiracy, a Republican with a sterling reputation, appointed by a Republican, and overseen by a Republican is actually working with super-secret high power operatives in all the intelligence agencies to frame the President. The president who just happens to say he's a conservative these days.

When did the people pretending to be worried about this ever utter a peep? Where are all the threads about how maybe the FBI is framing/entrapping drug dealers or sex traffickers? Etc. They don't exist because there isn't any actual concern about the FBI/CIA conspiring to get Trump. They still trust the FBI/CIA just as much as when they puffed up their own sense of moral status by claiming to be "tough on crime."

It's all just stupid partisan bull**** and none of any of this matters because the point is just to *get* the left.

And national civility and faith in government and democracy is in the crapper - but hey - compared to people making money in the stock market who gives a wet fart?

Oh, I see - people gaining income through employment or through investment is evil and immoral, while living off welfare payments is the more honorable way to go.

Well see that’s the thing. There are those of us who see a lack of faith in government and democracy as a VERY good thing. Something to celebrate.
