What Went Wrong?

Here is my concession. The woman you love has shown her true face

I already accepted your concession. No need to do so again. It's just fawning at this point and a little embarrassing.

No, they were not ok with it. What news? Any quotes? Social media is not reliable and you can't tell if anyone's political views from it. They were not ok with it.

You really should consult Google when you're going to be so adamant about something. It will save you from being silly. And, yes...I do know the politics of my own friends on social media.

Talk about not being abreast of the facts! The poster you replied to said the reopening of restaurants and bars too early was a big part of the problem. The Texas governor himself said the biggest mistake he made was allowing bars to reopen.

I think your definition of limited opening of business is different than most people’s:

“Abbott put Texas under what was effectively a stay-at-home order for most of April, shutting down all but businesses considered essential by the state. After letting that order expire at the end of April, he moved forward with a phased reopening of the state that was one of the earliest and quickest in the country. By early June, Abbott had permitted almost all business to open at at least 50% capacity.

“Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday took his most drastic action yet to respond to the post-reopening coronavirus surge in Texas, shutting bars back down and scaling back restaurant capacity to 50%.”

My definition is just fine, and your own posts backs me up (placed in bold). Thank you for your support.

What Went Wrong - Explained:

Clear and simply explained!

Trump got in the way of the recovery. One more reason to tag Trump as incompetent and uncaring about American lives!

It is the young Democratic voters who are spreading the virus by not wearing masks. Maybe the punishment should be anyone who doesn't where masks shouldn't be allowed to vote. That sounds fair, doesn't it?

Oh, yeah sure. You polled all the people not wearing masks and they all were Democrats, right?

Last I looked, the Democrat leaders (starting with Biden) were wearing masks and Trump refuses to wear masks. So you are saying the Democrats are mimicking Trump and the Republicans are mimicking Biden, right?

I watch the news and read the facts. That's what they're saying. The median age of those testing positive is plummeting. I thought your side liked facts?

Funny... blaming Trump again?

Each governor or other local official set the stage for the reopening of each state.
CDC gave guidelines for this to happen. Some followed to the letter some did not.

You guys hate the president and now there is an uptick of COVID 19 so it's all Trump's
fault.

Where is your upset with Como and all the nursing homes deaths because of his policy to
return COVID 19 positive people to the nursing homes?

Literally any other person who would have been or would be elected President would have setup strict Covid-19 guidelines - the ones that we followed step by step in NY and that worked to do way more than flatten the curve. Trump does the opposite! He NEVER talks about Covid anymore. What has he said in the past 30 days, especially the last 14 days when things became out of control in lots of our country?

We haven't! Only for to go. There's no proof that the protests are a significant factor in the rise of cases. There's plenty of proof that bars and indoor dining create super spreader infections. Did you read about the bar in Michigan that spread at least 88 new cases this week?

Michigan'''s Harper'''s Bar Reopens, Infects 88 With COVID

I did. The bar is a college hangout. In my community, a "college town," over 66% of the new COVID cases are those under 40.

You can't make your own decisions? You need to be led?

Obscene reply! During WWII didn't almost all Americans band together and truly give up their everyday life but not using things that were needed for the war effort? It is insanely selfish to not wear a mask and protect your fellow countrymen and yourself. IMHO only selfish aholes believe that wearing a mask is somehow negative. Look at it this way. Your logic is the same as saying you're not going to obey red lights and that you refuse to stop for them and if other people get hurt, well, that's too bad. Do you stop for redlights?

Liberals using phrases like 'your fellow countrymen', is a sure sign of the apocalypse.

Fair enough, but where did the CDC say Georgia for example should not open until June 1?
The CDC guidelines were not set by date, but rather by new case numbers.
IMOHO, it still looks like in Texas at least, the spike in new cases is from the protest mostly, not the opening.
They are backing out the openings, back to the 2nd week in May levels, so if that was the cause, we should see new cases drop.

The CDC said that the curve of new cases needed to recede for 14 consecutive days...that still has never happened in Georgia or any of the states that reopened too soon...here in NY we followed step by step and now we have the lowest infection rate in the country. DUH!

A month of left wing protests, riots, and large crowds gathering in 140 cities is what went wrong. Anyone who blames the reemergence on 'bars being open' is a shill or an idiot.

Exactly! Bars and indoor dining need to stopped - outdoor dining and togo dining seems OK. No one can argue that drinking indoors without masks and social distancing is not one of the major factors for the incredible rise of cases around the country.

What does that mean? Is it possible for you to express your point of view without a BS, snarky thumb in the eye reply? Is it too much to ask that you DEBATE?

Please provide some news stories that show that the protests caused an increase in cases? Would you like to see a library full of stories about bars and infections? Here's one I posted a little while ago:

Where's your proof or are you just attacking to be a contra?

I am sure bars are a big factor, but the protests are also.

I agree that the protests must have contributed but in NYC we've not seen a spike because so many of us wear masks and social distance plus bars are not open. How do you explain that?

That's just in California. In Minnesota, the number one age group for infections are 20-29 year olds, thanks to Joge.

You are misinformed and acting like a Trump cult lover.

Is that why the Republican Governor clones, like Arizona's Ducey, have ordered new closure of bars and other public places?

Arizona’s Republican governor shut down bars, movie theaters, gyms and water parks Monday and leaders in several states ordered residents to wear masks in public in a dramatic course reversal amid an alarming resurgence of coronavirus cases nationwide.

I'm not a Republican. They do all sorts of assheaded things. My loyalty isn't sworn to the GOP.

After having the highest rate in the country! Perhaps NYC has achieved some level of herd immunity!
I think back in April, they were estimating that over 20% of NYC population had already had Covid-19.

Sorry, that's not true. Herd immunity means that between 70%-90% of the population has been infected. All of NY state has less than 400K cases in a population of 19 million. which is less than 20%. Personally, living in Manhattan I do not know of anyone who has had the virus. One of my co-worker's Dad passed away in April but that's the only person in my "herd" that I'm aware of. We're winning the battle because we strictly follow the CDC guidelines and we have a governor who explained to all of us everyday what we need to do to avoid getting sick and we listened...let's call it HERD OBEYING! Texas, FL, AZ et al are in the category of HERD DENIAL.
