I am still trying to figure out what Trump was trying to accomplish on Wednesday. Did he actually think that the protestors would storm the Capitol and stop the certification process? Surely, Trump knew that at best only a temporary interruption would occur (just as it did). Yes, I realize that I am trying to understand the actions of a mentally disturbed individual, but even madmen have some objective-as crazy as it may be. In this case, I just don't see his game plan here.

Far as I can guess, either he was labouring under some desperate self-delusion of sparking a successful insurrection or (more likely) just wanted to create chaos to further ingratiate himself with whichever foreign power he hopes to gain refuge from.

Seems pretty obvious how a protest works. Why bother repeating the same talking points over and over? Whats your objective? Do you actually think youll convince anyone to change their mind? I dont see your game plan here.

I submit without proof that President of the United States of America Donald Trump was doing what he has done for quite a while now -- feeding his cash cow. He's probably focused on how to keep the money flowing after the inauguration of President-elect Joseph Biden on the 20th of this month [1/21]. I would not be surprised at all for President Trump to announce his run for the presidency in 2024 within two months of leaving office. There are financial advantages for him in doing so, not least the funding of his rallies here and there in the US. Other interesting manipulations of the money beckon. 'Hiring' members of his family to help run his campaign is one possibility. [Ed.: His pre-nuptial agreement may also be part of his calculus. Lawyers do cost money.]

Regards, stay safe 'n well. Remember the prophylactic Big 3: masks, hand washing and physical distancing.

Reminder. I try to respond to all who quote my posts. If you do not get a response from me, it may be that you've made it onto my 'Ignore' list.

the purpose was probably to incite an insurrection, IMO. if so, that part worked. the insurrection failed.
