What the World Would Be Like If Everyone In The World Behaved Like the Catholic Saints

Totally irrelevant response. The fact is most saints were named saints because they were martyrs, and therefore giving their lives is about the only lesson they have to pass on. That does little to teach people how to live their lives.

Another fact is that there are many people, in many walks of life, that have lessons to share.
It is true that many canonized saints suffered and/or lived lives of deprivation. For some reason, it has become fashionable to think everything has to go perfect in life. But that's not how greatness is forged. It's not a bad thing for kids to learn that lesson. In looking at my own life, it has gone incredibly easy. I've never had to go to war. The economy has been good. I was able to have money and security. I feel I will have to take on more crosses to get where I want to go. Perhaps the coming Marxist regime will be the truly difficult time.

Are you moving to South America? The only regime coming to the US is a return to sanity. Try seeing the good in it. That is a valuable lesson, and not such a heavy cross to bear.

You're deceived. The so-called insanity was caused by the leftwing media and the far left launching baseless attack after baseless attack against Trump. You'll soon find out what Marxism is all about, first hand.

No, I have no plans to relocate to South America. You might observe your own earlier proclamation, and learn something from the saints you admire. Be kind....don't make baseless claims. Do your part to stop the spread of lies and distortions. We'll all be better off.

Trump will become the patron saint of infidelity.

What the World Would Be Like If Everyone In The World Behaved Like the Catholic Saints.

It would be a fabulous world.

Everyone would be looking out for everyone. There would be very little government. Every social service need would be taken care of by volunteers. Health care would be one giant co-op. And those who couldn’t pull their share would be taken care of voluntarily by others. There would be little need for law enforcement. I say ‘little' because humans are still fallible and make mistakes. People would still make errors such as inadvertent traffic violations. There would still be mentally ill people who would do bad things. Some police would be needed to keep everyone safe. The little government needed would be for taking care of infrastructure. There would be no need for the military, scant need for regulatory bodies. Government would be extremely skeletal. This proves conservatism is God’s way. There would be no leftists, because greed, the desire to control, and selfishness would be at a minimum. There would only be an honest media, reporting facts straight down the middle. There would still be elections and differences in opinions on how to best handle issues. But all debate would be friendly and the overall goals the same. There would not be selfish ambition to secure power, rather; the desire to succeed politically would be solely to help the people. There would still be competition, but all accomplishments and accolades would be to glorify God.

There would be no divorce, no abortion, no birth control. It would be a well-managed population because people would be looking out for others first. There would be many many Catholic churches, throngs attending daily Mass, many priests and sisters, only Catholic schools. No government schools. No poverty, except that that is self-imposed. No abortions, few unwed mothers. There would be nobody living in luxury. Very little obesity. There would be far less junk food and sugary snacks. Fewer health problems because most people would be treating their bodies as temples. There would be fewer temptations, no porn industry, no gambling industry. There would still be accidents, natural disasters, disease, epidemics, depression, and congential maladies. But some suffering would be welcomed and used as a positive, and many volunteers would be on hand, helping to minimize that suffering.

There would be plenty of parties and celebrations, but without drunkenness. There would be plenty of family fun, board games, dinners, puzzles, happiness, laughter. Loneliness would at be a minimum because there would always be people reaching out.

Oh, sure there would be sin, because that is man’s nature. But everybody would be working hard to curb sin in themselves. In short, all the evil we have now would be reduced to very little. All the good we have now would be greatly expanded.

We should each work to make ourselves like one of the canonized saints. Our goal should be perfect. Our goal should be to do as much to help others as we possibly can. We will fall short, but that should be our goal.

Humanity would have died out centuries ago because the vast majority of Saints were celibate.

Catholicism is purely voluntary. Living in an atheist regime and being forced at gunpoint to hand over all your possessions, is not.

Was Catholicism purely voluntary for the Cathars for Languedoc?

How about for the Native Americans of New Spain?

The Jews of Iberia? Was it voluntary for them?

If only it were so easy!

Regardless, I'm with you here. Everyone should try to idealize & model themselves after the saints. But, easy it's not.
Jesus said to take the narrow way, that the way to Hell is wide open and "there are many who go therein" I think of Biden and Co...

What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul? (says Jesus)

But people care more about their comfy lives here on EArth than they do about obeying Jesus so as to get into a good place in the next life. It's all about the here and now with US politicians... living for Numbero Uno.. tossing the US Constitution out the window.. all because they want the "things of this world"

well, they can have them... We see how easily it happened... that they got what they wanted... because few in Congress of the sup ct had the cajones to stand up for what is right...

and so I no longer care much what goes on in the Sewer aka DC. I already know all too well what they are doing. I need not watch "news" any longer, and probably won't be... probably the one good thing that came from all this lawlessness... fraud... criminality of the left: We Christians see our powerlessness and maybe some of us will turn 100% to our Lord Jesus Christ and away from .... I don't know... We do have a responsibility to do what we can to make the world a more Christian place...

so ... not sure what else to say... probably nada

No, that is not what Jesus said, everyone who dies goes to hell/sheol/hades/the grave when they die, even Jesus went to hell for the 3 days he was dead...what he said was there are 2 roads, one leading to destruction and one leading to life...

“Go in through the narrow gate, because broad is the gate and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are finding it. " Matthew 7:13,14

That's a fantastic post. Right on the money.

A very hypocritical theocracy.

No thanks, it would not be great, only for people living outside of reality or who are huge fans of religious injustice.

So your view in condemn people to be "charity cases"? Thanks but no thanks. A good size government is always needed and one where there is a safety net for all those who fall through the "cracks" of society (sick, unemployed, etc. etc.). No person wants to be a charity case if it is not absolutely necessary.

And saints belief in that booklet of yours, where massive crimes are committed in the "name of god", that is not a world that one would want to live in, especially not without law enforcement.

And men are not fallible, men are downright evil to some degree, all of us have evil tendencies, that makes us prone to commit horrendous and less horrendous crimes.

And one of the so called most religious Christian countries in the world (the US) has massive numbers of law enforcement and immense numbers of people in prison. Without it making the country a whole lot safer.

The US has 271 times the number of police officers compared to the Netherlands, it has more than 5 times the murder rate, 90% more opiate use, 3 times the cannabis use, your age of criminal responsibility is like 6, in the Netherlands it is 12. No Dutch police officer would cuff a 6 year old or finger print them/lock them up. Rape rate in the US is three times that of the Netherlands. Gun crimes in the US are 23 times higher than in the Netherlands (per capita). Per capita the US locks up 6 times more people than the Netherlands.

And fyi, in the Netherlands the majority of people are non-religious, so the link between "saints/christianity" and crime is nonsensical and bogus.

Yes, it was. Catholicism is purely voluntary, despite your trying to go back 1000 years to claim otherwise.
Humanity would have died out centuries ago because the vast majority of Saints were celibate.
Canonized. The huge majority of saints were never canonized.

Walking the walk instead of doing the talk?

Canonized. The huge majority of saints were never canonized.

So you would say someone being told "Convert to Catholicism or be tortured and executed" is making a voluntary choice?

If they weren't canonized, then you cannot verify if a person was a saint.

1. It didn't happen
2. That has nothing to do with the OP

Seriously? You're going to claim that forced conversions on pain of torture and execution never happened in the history of Catholicism? You're going to deny the entire history of the Spanish Inquisition? The one led by "The Most Catholic Majesties"?

It absolutely has to do with the OP. If you are going to talk about people living like saints, then the only saints you can verifiably reference at the canonized ones. The vast majority of canonized saints were celibate and thus humanity would have died out within a few generation if everyone acted like saints.

1. There may have been a few isolated cases, but they were people doing stuff contrary to church teaching. Let's talk about the 100 million atheists killed in the last century.
2. The OP is saying how wonderful it would if everybody were a saint. Nobody said everyone has been a saint in the past.

Mashmont, I would have an ounce of respect for you if you could say "Yes, my Church did horrible things in the past and was wrong for doing it, but the Church has changed over time and is better today."

But instead you claim that the Church was always "perfect" and you blatantly lie and deny history in order to make it so.

It wasn't the church that did any evil, for it can't. Jesus' teachings were and remain perfect. Your beef is with people who went against Jesus' teaching.

"Isolated cases"

So the million plus Cathars murdered during the Albigensian Crusade were "isolated cases"?

The Spanish Inquisition forced conversion of the entire Jewish and Muslim population of Iberia, millions of people, with hundreds of thousands of others tortured and executed, were "isolated cases"? If their actions were "contrary to church teaching", why did the Pope name the Spanish monarchs "the Most Catholic Majesties"? Why did the Pope not excommunicate them? Why did they not excommunicate the clergy who ran the Spanish Inquisition and strip them of their offices?

If everyone was a saint, then humanity would die out within a few generations because most saints were celibate.

The Church once taught that "heretics" and "heathens" were to be converted on pain of death. That is a fact.

And before you do your "where is that in the Catechism?" bullshit again, I will point out that the Catechism didn't exist until the mid-16th Century.
