Yeah, saying, “Islam is an innocent bystander in today’s terrorism” is like saying “Christianity is an innocent bystander in today’s terrorism” when talking about Rudolph and the like. How dumb is that? Obviously Rudolph's actions are the will of all the hundreds of millions of Christians everywhere. Obviously. Why won't people see what's obvious?Pipes via Missouri Mule said:Although terrorists state their jihadi motives loudly and clearly, Westerners and Muslims alike too often avert their eyes. Islamic organizations, Canadian author Irshad Manji observes, pretend that “Islam is an innocent bystander in today’s terrorism.”

Think about this...How many MILLIONS of Muslims, who want the destruction of Isreal, end up immigrating to an open or democratic society? 10 million?...20 Million?....30 million?...more?
But when Isreal opens up a settlement with 5 or 10 thousand people, the WHOLE MIDDLE EAST starts screaming about the "Zionist plot" to take over.
A Muslim leaving Muslim lands to live on non-Muslim land? No problem...
A non-Muslim leaving non-Muslim lands to live on Muslim land? INFIDELS! Allah wants death! Break out the swords!...AYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!
Surenderer said:2 words out of my whole post you object too? thats not bad I guess..... what I was refering to was the lands that Israel has that wasnt part of the 1947 agreement and as I stated thats whats in the ARAB mind...not mine...I give speeches on these subjects and it comes up in every seminar I give. And believe it or not I feel as if "to the victor goes the spoils" but I constantly hear about how Israel now occupied the very territory they had banished the Palestinians too and how Israel’s hard right moved into this area, commandeered it for their own and built settlements illegally....anyways I say that Israel and Palestine must decide what they want their future to be. If both continue on the path they are on, don’t bring your complaints about the other to the world stage. Both could do more to insure their freedom

Ya I remember that  Even Teacher gives me props now and then......just goes to show that people can disagree on things respectfully......There is no doubt though that the West offers more by way of opportunities than the M.E. does (education employment etc) but Arabs have gotta change that themselves

As I understand it, as a result of the fashionable trend toward socialism-like policies that swept the ME a couple/ few generations back, there's often plenty of opportunity for education. It's just that once you're out of university there's not always a job.
From what I've seen, I'd have to agree with you about change coming from within. If the changes aren't "in the local idiom" they're more likely to be awkwardly enacted and inappropriately maintained and thus wither on the vine as it were. IMHO. YMMV.
