My answer is to get the government to print the money to provide financial assistance to the educational sector of Detroit.
I'm sure that will work as well for us as it did for Germany in the early 1920s, or perhaps even as well as it has more recently worked for Zimbabwe.
well, i guess we can leave Detroit to rot, and you can pay entitlements to the displaced workers instead of hiring them to do something.
and even if you vote Republican, the entitlements will still be paid. no matter who wins, we don't let people starve in the streets.
No, I do not like rewarding bad decisions and behaviors because you will get more of it.
Who is the one supporting modest trade tariffs and fair trade as to insure we are not priced out or blocked in foreign markets?
Who wants to get rid of of a convoluted and biased tax system with one that levels the playing field and doe not punish people for bring back money into America (Why the Hell would anyone punish anyone bring money made overseas back into America?)
Who is the one who supports states rights and reducing Federal Power?
Who supports ending then NSA?
Who is the one who supports getting out of the middle east and stopping wasting countless lives and trillions on worthless wars?
supports ending the war on drugs?
Well who gave them tax cuts to leave?
What nation on Earth pay its industries to leave?
Such as electing any of the war mongering GOP Presidential contenders like Rubio.
Your GOP has always been for unfair trade deals since Reagan and the first one with Israel.
That's why Perot ran against Bush-43 and kept him from office .
Which President signed the first trade pact give-away?
Signed the first amnesty?
Was the first to have 400+ billion deficits--dwarfing those in today's dollars?
Was guilty of high crimes and felonies far worse than Nixon but was let off the hook by Tip O'Neill ?
Not the GOP House--they had their chance last year and refused to take up their own Tax Rewrite bill.
None of us want another civil war based on that premise--do you?
Not the leader of the Senate, McConnell.
He wants the Patriot Act passed without changing it.
Not the GOP--the party you support--you have a short memory of what YER party did to America and the VA last decade.
YER party started and continues the war on drugs.
That isn't going to happen.Refurbish it into an auto capital of the world again.
1. Not the same.Germany rebuilt after ww2 and Japan rebuilt from the ashes of 2 nuclear bombs. Detroit needs to be rebuilt.
Whether you like it or not, the movement of jobs to a lower cost base is inevitable.Shipping jobs overseas?.....abandoning their country in order to make ever more money?
Ghastly business......downright un-American I'd say.
That isn't going to happen.
1. Not the same.
2. Rebuilt with who's assistance?
Whether you like it or not, the movement of jobs to a lower cost base is inevitable.
Making a profit and providing demanded low costs to consumers is an American thing.
If we do not like maybe we should cut regulations, have a flat tax making America a cheaper place to do business.
No, I do not like rewarding bad decisions and behaviors because you will get more of it.
Really? How do I advocate for that?
Who is the one supporting a secure border, and limited immigration as to secure and protect the value of labor of the American work force?
Who is the one supporting modest trade tariffs and fair trade as to insure we are not priced out or blocked in foreign markets?
Who is the one that wants to remove mindless regulations that do nothing but keep out the small businesses for them market place and stifle innovation?
Who wants to get rid of of a convoluted and biased tax system with one that levels the playing field and doe not punish people for bring back money into America (Why the Hell would anyone punish anyone bring money made overseas back into America?)
Who is the one who supports states rights and reducing Federal Power?
Who supports ending then NSA?
Who is the one who supports getting out of the middle east and stopping wasting countless lives and trillions on worthless wars?
Who supports ending the war on drugs?
Who supports restoring the dollar by backing it with Sliver and Gold?
That is what I support..
What should be done?
Sell it off?
Bail it out?
Let it rot?
you said that not letting people starve in the streets was part of the problem.
i support fair trade, even if it includes tariffs.
such as? might agree with you on some.
i support a progressive income tax system and taxing all income as income above a negotiated cap. on the flipside, i also support reducing the corporate rate to be more competitive with Europe, and taxing individuals instead.
i'm for a whole lot more oversight and restrictions on the agency, that's for sure.
we should get out of the Middle East almost entirely. stabilizing the region is the responsibility of regional hegemons.
that's another complex discussion, but i'm mostly onboard.
there's no putting that genie back in the bottle.
now, back to the displaced workers : we can pay them to work, or we can pay them not to. i'd prefer to pay them to work.
I was going to go with a RoboCop reference myself, but since there's no way you could convince a company to buy the hellhole, the Aliens route works.
Refurbish it into an auto capital of the world again.
If they do not feel the pain of their failures how are they to learn?
Blacks and whites as a whole have failed to live up to this. Blacks seek alms from the Man rather than spurning interference. Many whites still seem to think that they have a Burden. The all black government leadership of Detroit is still waiting for a bailout. Our answer is, do nothing with them; mind your business, and let them mind theirs. Your doing with them is their greatest misfortune. They have been undone by your doings, and all they now ask, and really have need of at your hands, is just to let them alone. They suffer by every interference, and succeed best by being let alone. The Negro should have been let alone in Africa—let alone when the pirates and robbers offered him for sale in our Christian slave markets— (more cruel and inhuman than the Mohammedan slave markets)—let alone by courts, judges, politicians, legislators and slavedrivers—let alone altogether, and assured that they were thus to be let alone forever, and that they must now make their own way in the world, just the same as any and every other variety of the human family. As colored men, we only ask to be allowed to do with ourselves, subject only to the same great laws for the welfare of human society which apply to other men, Jews, Gentiles, Barbarian, Sythian. Let us stand upon our own legs, work with our own hands, and eat bread in the sweat of our own brows. When you, our white fellowcountrymen, have attempted to do anything for us, it has generally been to deprive us of some right, power or privilege which you yourself would die before you would submit to have taken from you. When the planters of the West Indies used to attempt to puzzle the pureminded Wilberforce with the question, How shall we get rid of slavery? his simple answer was, "quit stealing." In like manner, we answer those who are perpetually puzzling their brains with questions as to what shall be done with the Negro, "let him alone and mind your own business." If you see him plowing in the open field, leveling the forest, at work with a spade, a rake, a hoe, a pickaxe, or a bill—let him alone; he has a right to work. If you see him on his way to school, with spelling book, geography and arithmetic in his hands—let him alone. Don't shut the door in his face, nor bolt your gates against him; he has a right to learn—let him alone. Don't pass laws to degrade him. If he has a ballot in his hand, and is on his way to the ballotbox to deposit his vote for the man whom he thinks will most justly and wisely administer the Government which has the power of life and death over him, as well as others—let him alone; his right of choice as much deserves respect and protection as your own. If you see him on his way to the church, exercising religious liberty in accordance with this or that religious persuasion—let him alone.—Don't meddle with him, nor trouble yourselves with any questions as to what shall be done with him. -Fredrick Douglass
Relatively low in those areas that could be assigned to farming. Soil remediation is also not rocket science.Do you have any idea how toxic the soil is?
Get the burger tossers to do more productive work in assembly line and earn more than the minimum wage after some training.
You realize that GM has been outsourcing jobs to mexico since the 1980s? These companies have no reason to rebuild the city
