You are correct. We have been through this before.
He didn't hear the voice in the background at first and was probably paying attention to what was said in the foreground. I realize to you this is important, but it really doesn't mean anything.
Very normal statement for someone hearing themselves played back over a recording. I've said the same before. Many people have said the same and will say the same. Science has even provided you with an explanation as to why that is and that explanation has been provided to you.
We have been through this before. The screams for help are very steady. Then, just a bit before the shot, the screams stop for a short period. They then restart. My guess would be that was when the smothering occurred. That Zimmerman doesn't recall exactly when the smother occurred should not be unexpected surprising or out of the ordinary.
That Zimmerman didn't answer exactly as you wanted him to, does not provide proof of anything other then he didn't answer exactly the way you wanted him to.
Gymnastics.. They're not just a physical endeavor. The amount of mental gymnastics you have to go through to arrive at the conclusion you like.. wow.
Please provide proof from the evidence dump your assertion that zimmerman "didn't hear the voice in the background at first and was probably paying attention to what was said in the foreground."
To make it esay for you, here's the 2/29/2012 interview:

Or, are you as usual, try to speak for zimmerman to patch up his blunders and clean up his mess when he pooped all over the places?
There was no foreground at the start of the 911 tape recording. The 911 tape begins with a very loud and terrified screeching voice pleading for mercy as in "I begging you" before the 911 operator or witness 11 even started to say anything. Then, the scream continued just as loud in the background as the operator and W11 were communicating.
Listen to the audio recording starting at 16:54 where Serino said, "Hear this one" before playing the 911 tape to zimmerman:

Anybody who hear the taped Serino interview replaying the recorded 911 scream would have immediately pick up on the scream as the recording started to play. How could zimmermn not hear the initial screeching scream right before the 911 operator picked up the call? Or even the loud bloodcurdling background scream after that?
Remember, zimmerman was sitting right at the table next to this original 911 recording. So, how could you even suggest that zimmerman could not hear the scream at first?
I know you are hard up to defend zimmerman at all cost, but please be reasonable and honest, will ya?
You claimed that it is very normal for someone to say "it doesn't sound like me" during played back over a recordingu. But it isn't normal for someone to remain dump founded and not make any attempt to clarify and correct oneself through the whole duration of the police interview where one's whole life is depended on it.
Most people who hear the playback of their own voice in the recording will recognize it's their own voice that just sounded different in the recording, especially in the extreme situation where the person had just experienced it very recently and was under police investigation on the very night of the incident where the person had claimed to be the one screaming for help that night.
But, what did zimmerman do when asked : "You hear that voice in the background?" or "You're that voice in the background?"
His response was, "No, sir".
Unless zimmerman is hard of hearing, to suggest that he could not hear the loud terrfiied screaming voice in the foreground and background is simply absurd.
However, zimmerman was given 4 opportunities to claim for himself the voice in the 911 tape as his despite the repeated play back of the tape and long pause in between replay for him to correct himself. Yet, even when Serion repeatedly handed to him on golden plate by saying:
"It's you",,,"That's you yelling for help. Help me, help me"... "And in the middle of all that yelling, nobody came out to help you",
zimmerman not once owned up to it. Instead, he was quiet during all those long pause where Serino was waiting for his answer. He was like a deer with red eye at night caught in the headlight. You can sense through his quietness his uneasiness as if hoping for Serino to move on all something else, which he did.
And of course, whatever evidence is detrimental to zimmerman all you have to do, as his ardent supporter, is summarily dismissed it as: "it really doesn't mean anyway" at every turn.
As to your explaining away of the smothering, you don't get a clean break of silence in between pause. Nor do you get to scream for help in a very steady stream. You are either out of breath for being suffocated or you are screaming through the hand and fingers with muffled sounds. Also, if zimmerman fired the fatal shot while Trayvon was stll putting his hand to suffocate him from screaming, zimmerman wouldn't abruptly and completely stop his screaming once the pressure was lifted off of his mouth.
That's why zimmerman was very evasive when Serino kept asking him to pinpoint when he was being smothered. But, eslewere iirc in the reenactment, he was very clear that Trayvon had one hand in his mouth while he reached down to get his gun before Trayvon could get it with his other hand.
In a childlike timid whisper, Zimmerman kept saying , "I don't remember"..."I don't know".
How could he not remember or not know when he claimed Trayvon's had put his whole weight upon his hands when he pressed down to smother him? How could he not remember or not know when zimmerman claimed he remembered his "broken nose" hurt like crazy when he was being smothered by Trayvon?
So, the gist is that if he was put on the spot that could nail him, all of a sudden he couldn't remember or he doesn't know. However, when it's to his advantage then everything is super-clear to him where all of a sudden he could recall all the impossible finest details of not only what Trayvon was doing moment by moment but also the way his jacket was displaced while laying on his back facing skyward with Trayvon supposedly slamming his head, punching his face and smothering him in total darkness. How convenient.
But all these exact same points have been argued with you over and over again in many threads for over a year already. For the recent one, the following thread alone covers most of the grounds we are dealing with now:
