What other Democratic Governor could pull off what Newsome is doing?

I'm not a big Newsom fan but I applaud him for taking it to Trump head on. I'm sure his tweets have been making the cankles swell. I think Newsome can pull this off because he is young, handsome and charismatic. He also has a sense of humor. Trump hates anyone that actually appears more virile than he does (which leaves the field wide open).

Democrats need to come out swinging, but what other Democratic Governor could pull this off? I'm just thinking of some of the major cities.

Perhaps JB Pritzger? Not Kathy Hochul. Not Gretchen Whitmer. Perhaps Josh Shapiro?

Don't get me wrong. We have some strong Democratic governors that serve their constituencies well, but how many can go toe-to-toe with Trump and succeed?

Thoughts?

In theory I see much of Donald Trump's lasting support, well surprising, but also a factor of no where else to go.

In neither bench, Democrat or Republican are there any clear front runners for 'contender'. Republicans are stuck with a featherweight in Vance...and Democrats have a Kenndyesque savior on the front burner....but no back up; no one to contrast him with what would be "normal discourse"

As a lone candidate he ensures a very dirty, brass knuckles campaign where Newsom's every word and then some will be used against him. His family will be assailed in public and he will have to fight a rigged system.

Democrats need a wide field to compete and then congeal into a single force at election time.

Independent boards should develop voting district maps. It should be federal law

Democrats voted to make that the law. Every Republican opposed it. Because Republicans were getting the bulk of the benefit of the rigging, which is what Newsom is combatting.

Yes, Schummer proposed legislation in 2021 which included independent boards for mapping districts.

Of course, you know the objection always comes down to "Federal overreach!", "State's Rights!"....a response thats somehow muted when the Fed tries to stop Calif. from setting emission standards.

Newsome hasn't "pulled off" anything except keen for attention.
