If you believe you were created or whether you believe life is just biological, at some point (I would hope) we still have to ask ourselves what is our purpose in life.

Yes, to find love and have kids and become successful. Those are the pat answers. Others DO find other purposes. They BELIEVE they are put on the Earth to spread their religion. Others believe their purpose is to improve the lives of others. Yet, and no names need to be mentioned, others believe their purpose is accumulate stuff and wealth.

So, while the poll above can't include every purpose, I listed some purposes, but also offered "other" so you don't have to feel excluded if your purpose in life is missing.

🤷‍♀️

Maybe there’s some bigger purpose, maybe not.

But I’m here and while I am - I’m going to do what I can to leave things a bit better than I’ve found them.

Nobody choose to be born rather it's the parents that made that decision. If you want to know the purpose, you have to ask them.

auditing life. I've played a preacher, lawyer and tried to expand my worldview with ideas and experiences I couldn't do on my own
If i cant experience it first hand i used to read and study it. when I think of all the chess books i lugged around and comparative religions
it would have been much easier growing up with the internet. Hell you can go to school online and work online now too

I've always found this question annoying because I've known too many people who have existential crises over trying to find the purpose for their existence. We have no purpose, we have choice. The choices we make determine the course of our lives.

The most contemporary science in physics and neurology suggest we don't even have choice. What we ascribe to ourselves as our own decisions apparently arise in our brains from "we know not where", often long before we think we "decide".

There's a whole lot of quantum physics stuff that touches on this also. If everything in our existence is particles and waves and all of them can interact with each other over great distances and among and between multiverses and if perchance the universe is a quantum computer or a quantum entity of which we're a part.....

I’ve lived a relatively full life, been of service to others, and attempted to do good.

My remaining days I shall take up space and expend resources I’ve accumulated (as you can’t take it with you).

The time is mine, the resources the same. I’ve paid my dues. What good I have yet to do, and I do hope there may be some yet, is not owed but expended at my desire to do a bit more where I think it may make a difference.

I’ve earned that much latitude.

Are you seriously saying you do NOT have a purpose in life??

Some time you need to give us an example of the poet ;)

Ok, fair enough, but that can still be seen as being picky about semantics. Purpose, course of our lives, choices we make. More or less the same thing.

Purpose, dreams wants and desires change as time and circumstances change
