What is the best argument for Trump not having been indicted?

Why is the indictment of Trump wrong?

Yes, you already said you think it would cause chaos. I am asking you how?
If he is jailed and wins the election he will pardon himself.

It will destroy our standing as a democracy in the world

How would it destroy democracy when he is voted in? If anything it was democracy at work.

Besides, do you really think Democrats and Independents would vote for someone in prison? If they believe in our court system, voting for someone in prison would be against something that is one of the bedrocks of our country. It would just be the Republicans that would go into chaos. If I was running against Trump, and he went to prison, it gives me all the ammunition in the world to go after Republicans who call themselves the party of law and order, yet voted for someone who was convicted by a jury of his peers.

He's ahead in the polls right now. A lot of people see this as political retribution

As I already pointed out yesterday, he wasn't ahead in the polls or even running back in 2021 when this all started. But of course he's going to convince people it's political retribution because that's what he does. He was given many chances to hand the stuff over and refused, so now he's crying boo hoo they're picking on me again!!

But he's ahead now. We could do this all after the election and maintain our reputation of free and fair elections

Or not

We could do this all after the election and maintain our reputation of free and fair elections
But that's wrong. We could not do all of this after the election, if he wins.

But then.....the people have spoken. If justice does not serve the people it serves no one

But then.....the people have spoken.
And will have made an uninformed choice. Also, kind of the point of the entire justice system is this is not how guilt of a crime is decided.

In your opinion

Let the people decide

So? We haven't had any votes yet. We haven't had any debates yet. In 2016 Biden was ahead in the polls right up to election day. Polls mean absolutely nothing, especially over a year before election day. Hell, Ross Perot was leading some polls in 1992 early on.

I think you meant Hillary, but regardless, I would hope that some of the semi Trump fence sitters decide he just not worth the risk and the polls could easily flip. What if DeSantis and Christie start gaining ground and Trump falls out of being the front runner? That whole "opposition" thing would no longer be valid. Are the meanies going to muster up some indictment for them?

It's not like this indictment was over Trump removing some art work and silverware from the WH. He stole things that in respect to our national security. He shared that stuff with who knows who?

It's just mind baffling that anyone would see that and think ohhh fiddle dee dee was a silly thing to worried about, lets put him back in to gain access to more!!

OK thanks

You disagree that Democrats would love it, or disagree that Republicans would hate it?
He disagrees that the Drumpf should be punished, 'cause he's done nothing worse than anybody else. Just a case of mishandling some ol' papers, tain't nothin'...

It will be chaos for everyone
The righties are the ones who support your logic or lack thereof. Despite popularr spin to the contrary, the D's support Law & order & criminals paying for their crimes. That they once had an important job should make no difference, if the evidence points toward guilty. Although the actual guilt is for a jury to decide.
See you tomorrow... ;)

That's funny

Jailing the front runner political opposition right before an election will cause havoc in congress
If he is convicted in a court of law partisan Trump supporters having tantrums will not and can not change a thing. If anything it will show them for what they are. Most of them on conviction will scramble to save their own asses and deny having ever supported him. Chaos. The only chaos will be Ted Cruz, Lady Harper et al trying to pull their heads out their butts denying they supported Trump.

Rats. Sinking ship. No they do not go down with it....but hey if you want to run up and down the streets once he's convicted knock yourself out.
