What is the best argument for Trump not having been indicted?

Why is the indictment of Trump wrong?

I know how people work. I know political bias when I see it

You are blind to it
OMG, the irony folks. Read the two highlighted parts and wonder how someone could have posted THAT comment and not seen the absolutely irony in the highlighted parts.

But let's change it NOW!!!!!! LOL

Trump tells on himself at every turn, is the key difference to me.

He could have had a sweetheart deal himself, if he had conformed to the standards for presidential behavior.

Far greater crimes have been committed by presidents that are ignored

Examples? And also, did those folks repeatedly incriminate themselves publicly?

Bill Clinton committed a felony ON VIDEO for the whole world to see.....and got a sweetheart deal

When Bill Clinton was ON VIDEO he wasn't in court and therefore not under oath.

As we've seen with #45 FPOTUS he can say anything in public, it's what is said in court that matters. For example he's said many times in public that he declassified all the documents, but yet has refused to make that claim in court (specifically when asked by Judge Dearie last fall).

I want the standard followed

But I thought the whole point of electing Trump was because he was going to be the “law and order” president- not be the biggest traitor criminal of them all.

So obviously that was not the real point of electing Trump after all. So what was the point?

He is taking the oath ON VIDEO. LOL

It’s been historically unprecedented because we have never had as shamelessly open and proud a criminal in the White House. I mean that’s the whole reason he got elected: to break the law, break Washington, and break the US government.
I do think one big reason Trump got elected was because of the hope that he would drastically change Washington, drain that swamp. He may very well get elected again, for the exact same reason. In particular, that swamp smell in the justice department has sure grown especially strong in recent years. There are clearly and now more apparently than might have been expected - a LOT of people (correctly, IMO) worried about how bad that source of the smell has grown.

Oh, you are saying politicians should be tried for perjury for taking an oath of office and then doing something you don't like, calling that perjury and charging them with a felony.

Ya, that would work out well as we'd have to put all of Congress and the Executive branch in jail.

Dude if it wasn't a crime.... why was he punished? Lol

IIRC you are the one that said he wasn't punished.

He was, to the tune of $90,000 fine, referral to the AZ Supreme Court for another $25,000 fine and suspension of his law license for 5-years.

WW

Smith followed both. In the past Presidents /VP who have taken classified documents and returned them when asked were not charged with a crime. That includes Pence, Clinton, and Reagan, the Biden matter is still being investigated. Trump was treated the same way. Even though he took hundreds of documents he was not charged regarding those he returned even though he was forced to return them. He was only charged with the documents he refused to return AND only those that were critical to national defense and security.
Ahhh, you must be referring to that "new" law about how it's fine to take classified docs to your garage if you're a Senator or VP and store them anywhere you'd like until years later, when you're asked to return them. Or that other "new" law that you can go to great lengths to destroy classified material if you're as SOS and claim you don't remember something like 50 times as you sit in your living room on a holiday weekend.

He was punished. But never indicted for a felony which could have happened when he left office

Nah, It seems clear now that it was for much more than that. It was to break and destroy DC and American government. And if he gets elected again, it will be to finish the job. Last time he just gave it a flesh wound. This time he will go in for the final head shot to finish it off.

Yes they could if he was never given the deal he took

Yes if we were to change history, but he was charged and paid a fine. So...

No they can't now. (Ignoring the statute of limitation issue.)

Criminal Contempt of Court is normally a misdemeanor charge. But it is a criminal charge.

Under the Constitution persons can't be tried twice for the same offense. Since he was charged with a misdemeanor for lying to the court, he can't be then charged with a felony for lying to the court stemming from the same event.

He was never charged with a crime IN COURT. Impeachment is a political process. Congress may refer a case to the DOJ AFTER Impeachment. Double jeopardy does not apply

Been done for federal judges
