What is the #1 problem in America today?

The #1 issue in America is........

  • Total voters
    57
Systemic racism. It is the number one problem that America has still refused to solve. It leads to the stifling of justice and the surge in government corruption over the last three years, which enables every other problem in the poll.

The US has permitted millions of black babies to be murdered via abortion during the past 45 years. Your ilk has done what the Klan could only dream of doing. Racism is responsible for this egregious sin, and until we correct this wanton killing, we may never get back on the right track as a nation.

I put "other"

America's biggest problem is its citizenry

What is the #1 problem in America today?

The Trump administration.

Get rid of that cesspool of corruption and dysfunction and everything else would improve.

Getting rid of trump is only the beginning. Nothing can be done without getting rid of him but returning to the status quo will only get us someone more cruel.

TD, your area of expertise is guns. Please stop speaking on areas outside your expertise. :)

Actually there are many areas where I am well educated. Political philosophy and history are two of them

Out of all the issues we face as Americans, what do you think ranks #1? This issue could be facing you. It could be facing your family, your partner. We can only do 10 options, but I'll pick on the ones which seem to be the most pressing for people.

ABORTION/BIRTH CONTROL

DISCRIMINATION.
ECONOMY.
EDUCATION.
THE ENVIRONMENT.
FOREIGN POLICY.
GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION/DYSFUNCTION.
GUNS/VIOLENCE.
HEALTH-CARE.
TRADITIONAL VALUES ON THE DECLINE.
My apologies if I didn't include your issue. Not only participate in the poll, but name me your top 3 and why you feel this way.

not sure i can pick a number one because so many are related and many tie to each other but i guess ill try my best if i could magically fix each of these issues (if they need fixed)

1.) Discrimination (helps/tied to economy, education, health care, guns/violence and government corruption)
2.) Economy, Education, healthcare, Government Corruption
3.) Foreign Policy, environment, gun/violence

not on the list and it should be is infrastructure, gerrymandering, foreign threats and immigration control reform . . im sure theres more im forgetting but thats just quick off the top of my head

Abortion, not a problem at all by itself but theres other things related i would address (improved sex ed, healthcare, social nets, paternity/maternity leave and equality for males on decisions AFTER a birth)
Traditional Values, not a problem since they are made up subjective things and there for not an issue. Focusing on rights, freedoms and not forcing things on others violating those things and we will be just fine

The war on “faith and family” eats away at the foundation of American life.

What war on faith and family?
I know its just my experience but i havent encountered anything that hinders either issue for me or anybody ive ever known.
Do you have examples?

ABORTION/BIRTH CONTROL. This applies to either pro-life or pro-choice folks. If you're pro-life, you're concerned about the number of babies getting murdered and denied the 5th and 14th amendment. If you're pro-choice, you're concerned about religious fanatics trying to take away a women's right to her own body and choices in life. You're concerned about future supreme court justices and access to birth control.

DISCRIMINATION. Our society has made many advances in civil rights, such as the 1964 civil rights act and disability act, but we're still seeing minorities getting abused by our system. We're seeing gay, lesbian, transgender, and gender non-conformist being treated as second-class citizens. Disabled Americans are being thrown under the bus and denied equal opportunity. You would somebody who would support the MeToo movement, Black Lives Matter, expanding disability laws, and/or support passing the Equality Act, adding gender identity or sexual orientation to federally protected civil rights laws.

ECONOMY. You feel people, including yourself or loved ones, in our society are underemployed. They are being underpaid and/or lacking their maximum potential. People can get employment, but they are poor jobs.

EDUCATION. You feel schools, whether be K-12 education or colleges, are being under funded and/or people cannot afford to go to college or trade school. There is not enough money to fund social workers, teachers, and provide adequate security to keep kids and young adults safe. Student debt is big for you as well.

THE ENVIRONMENT. You have this mentality: There is too much pollution in our society. It's impacting our air, our drinking water (Flint anybody), and our storms. If we do not act now, species will die off. Hurricanes and earthquakes will get worse. Cities will flood. We might have to wear masks in order to walk the streets.

FOREIGN POLICY. This can apply to both the hawks and doves around here. If you're a hawk, you feel America isn't doing enough to stop global terrorism and needs to spend more money helping out our allies. If you're a dove, you feel we give too much money to countries which hate us or abusive to us. You feel we're getting into too many military conflicts and it's causing our debt and deficit to rise, and diverting our attention away from our wars at home.

GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION/DYSFUNCTION. This could mean a number of things, but it all centers around how corrupt and inept our government is. This could mean you're upset about our electoral college system (move toward popular vote, proportional system). This could mean you want money out of politics aka influence of special interest groups and foreign governments in our elections. This could mean, you're tired of our highly partisan, binary Republican vs. Democrat system. This means, you feel our justice system is allowing criminals to get away with things, and putting the wrong people in jail or give them excessive punishment. This could mean you're concerned about gerrymandering.

GUNS/VIOLENCE. You have this mentality: Another day, another mass shooting, another hate crime, another day of blood shed on our streets. The madness needs to stop. We need to look at our gun policies and how we as human beings get along with each other.

HEALTH-CARE. You feel people in America, including yourself or family members, are paying too much for health-care insurance/expenses and it's eating away at ones wallet, and/or you feel Americans cannot afford vital drugs and medication necessary to live a productive and healthy life. You're in the camp for Medicare-For-All, Public Option, or deregulation of the health-care industry.

TRADITIONAL VALUES ON THE DECLINE. This is for our religious right friends here. You feel the growing acceptance of homosexuals and transgenders are hurting our society, and taking away your religious freedoms. You do not like the fact gays and lesbians can get married. You hate the fact that men are posing as women or women are posing as men, and asking to be accepted as something God didn't choose for them. You feel secularists are undermining Christmas, prayer in school, and/or ability to put Christian symbols in government buildings.

My apologies if I didn't include your issue. Not only participate in the poll, but name me your top 3 and why you feel this way.

It is globalism.

Feel free to start proving that with your actions. :)

Illegal immigration is the #1 problem, other than the insiders trying to totally take over the government.

It is fascinating that everyone agrees that corruption is the worst problem, then defend their side as the exception. Oddly, the one who has shown the least inclination toward corruption, the most openness, and the greatest desire to shine light in dark places, is the one that is most singled out as corrupt. Projection at its worst.

Too much self-centeredness.

... they do so in bad faith. How do I know, then that you are making a rare exception of asking it in good faith?

Given the fact that you made a claim without providing any evidence for it, how do I know YOU are making that claim in good faith?

It's okay, I didn't really expect a serious answer to my question.

I would agree with you when you combine it with the desire of a large percentage of politicians to basically turn the US into the lunch pail for the 3rd World. Illegal immigration, by itself, is not a big deal. Offering free healthcare and education to everyone who sneaks into the country illegally is.

Why do you like asking those kinds of bad-faith questions? :)

Lol. A question is in bad faith because it questions your baseless bad-faith assertions? That's a circular argument if I ever saw one.

^ Excellent example of one.

Systemic racism. It is the number one problem that America has still refused to solve. It leads to the stifling of justice and the surge in government corruption over the last three years, which enables every other problem in the poll.

The issue that you liberals keep rehashing over and over and over.

Too bad the last president incited violence to the point where two cities were lit on fire.

Cops found innocent in both events, regardless of how much he and his DOJ pit bulls wanted to find out otherwise.

Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words destroy you?

Rush and Sean's words are destroying our county. Hell, those words gave us Trump.

Systemic racism. It is the number one problem that America has still refused to solve.

Especially progressive Americans, correct? I mean, while they're the ones who are the most vocal about it, progressive cities are extremely segregated, and in the liberal Northeast, public schools are segregated like Mississippi in the 50s. The schools could be desegregated with the stroke of a pen, but if any liberal lawmaker were to even suggest doing so, he would be run out of town on a rail.

I guess I find it more than a bit ironic when progressives complain about a problem that is primarily caused by their own actions.

According to Gallup the number one problem is government. 34% said government way ahead of immigration which was in the number two spot at 13%

Mentions of Government as Top U.S. Problem Near Record High

I agree with Gallup. With our two major parties unwillingness to work together on anything for the betterment of this country, I say to Hades with both of them. Polarization, ultra high partisanship, each party out to destroy the other regardless of the consequences. Perhaps government should be replaced with the Republican and Democratic Parties as our major number one problem.
