It isn't an addiction in the medical sense of the word like being addicted to heroin. It's a psychological addiction. It could be considered an obsession but there is brain chemistry involved. We are programmed genetically to like sex, food, alcohol, socializing, and so forth. When you substitute something in for those things and find you like the substitute better that's when it can become an issue.Pornography Addiction: Why Pornography Is Addictive?
Too much pornography use may cause personal and professional problems. Can you have a porn addiction?www.webmd.com
Porn addiction is, in theory, when you can’t stop looking at porn, even if you want to. And the obsession gets to the point that it interferes with work, relationships, and other parts of daily life. It’s easy to understand how this could be a problem with the widespread availability of internet porn today. In 2019, for example, the popular site PornHub recorded 42 billion visits -- that’s 115 million a day.
Is Porn Addictive?
Scientists are debating if heavy use of pornography is an addiction in the medical sense of the word.
The World Health Organization added compulsive sexual behavior as a mental health disorder in 2018. And while it doesn’t single out a pornography (or any other) addiction, it does refer to repetitive sexual activities becoming a central focus of a person’s life to the point that they neglect their “health and personal care or other interests, activities, and responsibilities.”
And a study of men who sought treatment for problematic pornography use (PPU) showed that their brains did respond to sexual images. (more)

Well the release of serotonin or dopamine can be similar to that cases by a substance. But because you aren't putting anything into yourself you're just stimulating the response is say it isn't chemical.Claxx is correct that that kind of addiction isn't the same as those from external sources such as drugs or alcohol. Whether other addictions are physical or psychological or what, is still somewhat up in the air, as I understand it. However, it is such that anything can be an addiction. Sex, Internet, thrills, fitness, shopping, hoarding, etc. These things can all also be formed into habits, but the main difference is that if you fail to engage in the habit, it doesn't cause stress and anxiety. If the addiction is not based upon a external chemical, then it is usually this type of addiction. As I understand it there are certain types of people prone to addiction, but the form it takes will depend upon what they get addicted to. Basically is seems that they get addicted to their own body's stimulation of the pleasure centers from whatever activity they are addicted to.
Pretty much. From what I understand there are certain people who are more susceptible to being addicted to their own body chemicals, hence "addictive personality" claims. Also I had specifically noted external chemicals.Well the release of serotonin or dopamine can be similar to that cases by a substance. Same with internet or hoarding, one we had to deal with recently. Pretty much anything can be addicting if you're that type of person. For those with a pornography addiction, I think it is basically like a gambling addiction. If you have ever known anyone with a gambling addiction, it is as strong of a compulsion as any drug to them.

Would you be willing to give us a documented example of a society which was destroyed from within where pornography was a significant factor? I'm kind of a history buff and I find your claim fascinating.well it is common and destorys a society from within
A society dies by social dreariness created by liberalism and feminism and are then overcome by stronger conservatives enemies, the cycle is a never ending repeat of human life
