I have concerns, based on observation of the current administration and the "Way" it uses its power. Added to this is a seemingly defunct system of checking the ability of the federal branch to increase its powers based entirely on what it wants, rather than what it needs. That said I propose a new thread that might be useful as things unfold in the coming months. In this thread I hope to put forth information that might lead to conclusions, some obvious and some bordering on conspiracy theory, in the hopes that when visited at a later date we might gain from hindsight.


We will call this the "What If?" experiment:

What If GWB did indeed order the release of information, and declassified said information with the intent of placing a political opponent in a bad light?

What If he then claimed he would fire anyone involved in what was termed a "Leak", in a public statement, and later rescinded/adjusted the comment to make likely action unneeded?

What If the President, or Vice president are actually forced to testify under Oath, and the results are detrimental to the administrations continued place of power?
 
Probably nothing will happen since the majority of the population just doens't seem to care much.
The guy sat there for 7 minutes dumbfounded on 9/11 and yet got re-elected. Sent soldiers to war without a plan for action thousands now killed and got re-elected anyway.
The guy criticizes science and thinks that the alternative to evolution should be taught, and he's re-elected. Feels that global warming is a hoax and silences scientists that speak out and get's re-elected. This is an administration and president that has time and again demonstrated his incompetance and decietful nature yet the ppl just don't seem to care. With all 3 branches of government red and no care from the majority populice, yep, nothing will happen.
 

I love how the left makes excuses early in preparation for their smears to backfire ("yup, nothing will happen").

By the way, can we see your evidence on how Bush was "dumbfounded" on 9/11?

And since science is so important, jfuh, how do you scientifically evaluate "incompetance" and "deceitful nature"?

But what is up with your jealousy deal? Seriously I don't get it.
Now as for my evidence of how Bush was dumbfounded on 9/11? Sitting in grade school classroom told that "America is under attack" And yet sits there for 7 minutes doing absolutely nothing. Dude, this being a day and age when an ICBM takes only 30~45 minutes to reach the US and he sat there for 7 minutes doing absolutely nothing. If that is not dumbfounded and show of incompetence I really don't know what is.
The reality is indeed that nothing would happen because there's just no public out-cry for this.
Look how fast the dubai port deal was shut down because of public out cry. Yet this case and other's have dragged on for years and not only is he re-elected but he's made no changes whatsoever for the better since his re-election. Just business as usual for him.

His actions speak for themself. Any true leader would have said "Oh, my god, we are under attack, I had better do something" rather than sit there looking like a dumbass for 7 minutes.

And the explanation "He would scare the children" is just silly.

He could have stood up and said "I am sorry children but there is a matter of extreme importance that I have to attend to"

Then all we know is he's flying around on a jet somewhere and it takes hours for him to even address the American Public.

It should be readily apparent that Bush is simply a figurehead to the whims of Rumsfield/Cheney/Rove. They are the ones calling the shots in this whitehouse. And when Bush was confronted with a major catastrophy in his face he panicked because he didn't have them there telling him what to do.

I cannot imagine any leader in the history of this nation being so inept in a time of crisis. Little did we know it was just a sign of things to come.
 
disney & jfuh, the reality is you can't prove dumbfoundedness. It's silly. You can shout it all you want, but others will say it represented calm and thoughtfullness. Who's right and who's wrong? Nobody can say. The Bush hate is out in front of your logic.

Calm and logic? Hmmmmm hadn't heard that one before. Forgive me for saying so but that is almost too funny. I can't even hear the most hard-core Bush Apologists coming up with that explanation....yeah, I sat there staring blankly because I was calm and had to do some logic. After all being President is a hard job.
 
You're missing the point because you're too focused on spinning. Tell us how you "know" the president was "dumbfounded." Don't tell about how you "thought" he stared blankly. Tell us what you know for certain. You see, disney, you hate the guy and so you interpret things to align with your hate. That's fine. But unless you can prove dumbfoundedness, you're just spewing your hate. And God bless you, spew away. It's your right. But you have no idea what he was thinking after being told of the attack...no idea what-so-ever.
 

Its an easy criticism because of course you can't get inside someone's head. However, it is not always necessary to do so. Sometimes actions speak louder than words. Further, you can judge a persons character by their actions and inactions and in this case, you might want to disagree but Bush has shown time and again that he's inept and unqualified.
 
Shout it to the mountaintops, disney. Knock yourself out. In the meantime, your party needs a platform and a candidate.

So tell me what the problem is, KC, with disney saying that he perceived Bush as being dumbfounded when he was informed of the planes going into the WTC? Is it NOT okay for him to make an assessment based upon his observation? You're free to discount it, but why are you requiring that he KNOW for a fact that Bush was dumbfounded in order to allow him to have such opinion. Many of us were dumbfounded, and based upon the expression on his face, it's possible that he was as well, so it's not that unrealistic to make that assessment. And it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Personally, I didn't think that it made him look inept. But I could see how disney reached the conclusion that he did.

I think that it's very sad that you see that as calm and thoughtfullness. I'm sorry for wanting a leader that will jump to action the moment that s/he hears that our country is under attack. I'm sorry that I expect higher level of promptness in this nuclear and ICBM age and disrespect his "calm and thoughtfulness".

Now by your same rational of that I can't proove he was dumbfounded, neither can you proove that he was calm and thoughful. Fact is, he sat there frozen for 7 minutes doing nothing until his staff members came again to get him going.

Now part of my partisan opinion is that during this time, he was thinking "Oh $hit, where's Cheny?!"

Oh and BTW, can you please eleaborate on what you mean exactly by jealousy? I really have a hard time connecting that to any emotion I feel about this.

Disney isn't saying it was his perception. He is saying he knows that Bush was dumbfounded. I'm saying he doesn't know. Nor do I know.

If you don't know, how can you possibly say he [Disney] doesn't either? You have no point of reference. You don't know the truth. He could be right, but you wouldn't know, because you don't know!

Can you walk your talk? Prove it's Bush hate! Prove that it was said simply because of a hatred with Bush. Prove no other mitigating factors played a role in what was said. Are you a hypocrit? Walk your talk. Prove it!
 
What if Bush sold pork chops to Israel as a joke. Would the Israelis hate us? and what if they attacked us? Could we launch bacon and crabs at the Israelis to make them stay back? Pig and bottom feeders ain't kosher! :mrgreen:
