What if God came down from Heaven and commanded Christians and mankind to throw down firearms in the name of peace and to never hold or use one…with the penance being Hell?

This is hypothetical, obviously. A what if. Don’t get lost in the weeds of trying to explain how it would never happen given how the Bible has shown God to do what He wants as he is the Alpha and the Omega.

Just answer the question of if you would obey God or not should he make that commandment.

Good thing I don't believe in God.... ✌️

shrug...

If god doesn't take away free will, he's wasting his time.

LOL in this hypothetical we all might have to reconsider our disbelief if he suddenly came down from the skies!

"In light of today's events I am forced to change my position..."
If I remember the Bible from my childhood, Methodist, God never shows himself. Perhaps a burning bush or entrails of a goat. Either way I'm not too worried He (She) will make an appearance.... ✌️

I'd say no problem...don't own a gun, never have, never will...neither does my husband...

I don't believe in God, so I would not obey.

What a dumb question. It's says right there in that there Bible, that guns are a God given right and every American should have a right to own an AR-15.

Just read your Bibles y'all just like us good God fearin' Trump lovin' Christians have done.

I would hope that every person on all sides, gun enthusiasts included, would welcome a world where both guns, and the need for guns, did not exist. Tragically, the latter still exists, therefore the former exists.

Sinners would immediately appear…….

I'd ask why, and what is the plan once the guns are all thrown down.

Oh and what happens if someone refuses?

If this were to happen, he'd either be an imposter or a hypocrite. Is there any example of the biblical god of Abraham blaming inanimate objects for what humans do?

He would be banned from the Bible and his name thrown into the deepest hell.

The world would divide into at least three factions:

those who insist we immediately get rid of all of them...the same people who opppose gun ownership now.

Those who insist it is a right...the same number that do so now

And a group who either says there is no god, **** that, or that's not my god so **** off...which would be the same number who don't give a damn now.

The Golden Calf.

For sake of argument, let's suppose in this scenario there is some very persuasive way to believe God is genuine.

Well, you still have the problem that some people will convince themselves otherwise, grab the guns, and bark out a lot of orders.

Some Christians, on the other hand, would be drastically demoralized being told they were at risk of sick torture, or that anyone is.

The most straightforward option would seem to be a mutualistic solution: the shooters set up a big checkpoint somewhere (think GHF...) and the faithful just keep marching into it, knowing they will be shot in the name of peaceful protest for their faith -- and therefore, be spared hell.

In the end the shooters pave over the burial plot, put up a big memorial, burn all the religious books they can find on it, and try to forget all about the threat they heard. In a few generations, barring further intervention, religion would be no more.

It's stuff like this that makes people think the world isn't meant to work this way.

The Golden Calf.
Um no...Jehovah put the blame where it belonged...on the people...

“Remember—never forget—the way you provoked Jehovah your God in the wilderness. From the day that you left the land of Egypt until your coming to this place, you have rebelled against Jehovah." Deuteronomy 9:7

"They have quickly turned aside from the path I commanded them to follow. They have made a metal image for themselves.’" Deuteronomy 9:12

would not matter......as the people would claim right to "defend themselves "......which is just an excuse for their fantical love of weapons.. Weapons make them feell powerful. It is like a testosterone hit.
How many obey the ten commandments??? Are they not supposed to be the "word of god"??

Human nature is human nature.....and the DSA is too far gone down the path of aggression, greed, violence , and divisiveness now. People need to get past their biases , prejudices, and hatreds..... before there is any kind of behavioral change. The DSA is literally ADDICTED to guns and violence. Their reality is based on movies that influence their minds and culture......so strongly. Weapons make them feel "tough" , or strong, and therefore arrogant.
