I highly doubt it. Republicans like to use the force of government for what they believe in just like the Democrats. Somewhere in-between individual freedom gets lost. But perhaps this midterm taught the GOP a lesson.

Of course, these are only two issues where the traditional conservatives disagree with today’s conservatives. They also disagree on Trump. Trump doesn’t have a political ideology or philosophy. This 7-time party switcher has adopted whatever political philosophy the party he belonged to at the time. I do find it strange that so many so-called conservatives would follow this man without a political ideology or any political beliefs at all. Where does individual liberty and small government fit into today’s conservatives? I don’t see it.

That may be fine on a case-by-case basis, but on the societal level there are real-world consequences to telling the emperor that his invisible clothes look beautiful...even if it's done out of politeness, and even if it's an insincere statement just to humor him.

Because when others start humoring this idea, activists will inevitably up the ante, as we are already seeing. Now it's no longer just about pretending that a "he" is a "she" because some people think it would be mean to tell him the truth. It's about allowing men to play in women's sports, allowing male rapists into women's prisons, allowing minors to mutilate themselves because they have body image problems, etc.

Men who think they are women should have full equality under the law. But it does not follow that society should pretend they actually are women.
