What Happens to a Soul Between Death and the Future Resurrection?

Why does the Bible explain "you shall surely die" Genesis 2:17, "For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” Gen. 3:19 in the book of Genesis, why does the book of Genesis explain these details in the first place? Why does Genesis explain nothing about we really don't die?

Why does the Bible explain "you shall surely die" Genesis 2:17, "For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” Gen. 3:19 in the book of Genesis

You can't tie those two together.
They're talking about 2 different deaths.

Furthermore.........

Gen 3

19 By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food

until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;

for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”

It supports the interpretation that man was not created immortal, but will eventually die whether they ate from the fruit or not.
The curse for them on this earth was the SUFFERING AND HARDSHIP of living life to the end!

why does the book of Genesis explain these details in the first place? Why does Genesis explain nothing about we really don't die?

It was not explained in Genesis, but it was explained by CHRIST in the NEW TESTAMENT!

The second death is mentioned on multiple occasions in the book of Revelation and is synonymous with the lake of fire.
It is a “death” in that it is a separation from God, the Giver of life. It is called the “second” one because it follows physical death.

Revelation 21:8 explains the second death in the most detail: “The cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—

they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

What was given in Genesis, along with the curse to the serpent was the prophecy for The MESSIAH!

Genesis 3

15 And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,

and you will strike his heel.”

Genesis 3:15 is a remarkable verse, often called the protoevangelium (literally, “first gospel”), because it is the Bible’s first prediction of a Savior. The second half of the verse gives two messianic prophecies concerning that Savior:

The first messianic prophecy in Genesis 3:15 is that “he will crush your head.” That is, the seed of the woman will crush the serpent’s head.
The Amplified Bible makes it clear that “the woman’s seed” is more than mankind in general; it is an individual representing all mankind:

“And I will put enmity (open hostility)
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed (offspring) and her Seed;

He shall [fatally] bruise your head.”

The second messianic prophecy in Genesis 3:15 is that “you will strike his heel.”
That is, the serpent will bite the heel of “the woman’s seed.” The heel-bite is set in contrast to the head-crush, as the Amplified Bible brings out: “And you shall [only] bruise His heel.”

This passage points to the promise of Jesus’ birth, His redemption, and His victory over Satan. The woman’s offspring is Jesus.

Being virgin-born, He is literally the offspring of a woman (Matthew 1:25; Galatians 4:4; cf. Isaiah 7:14). Being the Son of Man, He is the perfect representative of humankind.
The devil’s offspring were the evil men and demonic forces who, like a snake, lay in wait for the Savior and struck at Him.
Their venomous conspiracy condemned Jesus to be crucified.

But the serpent’s strike did not spell the end of the Offspring of the woman.
Jesus rose the third day, breaking the power of death and winning the ultimate victory.
With the cross, Jesus “crushed” the devil’s head, defeating him forever.

So, in Genesis 3:15, the crushing of the serpent’s head was a picture of Jesus’ triumph over sin and Satan at the cross (cf. John 12:31).

The striking of the Messiah’s heel was a picture of the wounding and death of Jesus on the cross.
Satan bruised Jesus’ “heel,” but Jesus showed complete dominance over Satan by bruising his “head.”

So we are too ignore what the Bible starts telling his people in the very beginning, in the book of Genesis?

Gen 3
22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil.

He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”

That supports the interpretation that man was not created as an immortal.

I suppose, our physical body makes it so that we aren't immortal.
Since from dust we came, to dust we shall return.

Our immortality will come later.........when we all rise up from the dead.
We'll rise up transformed. We'll have spiritual bodies.

You see the fluidity of consistency?

Messages from various books, fitting so nicely and blending well?
It's just so beautiful.

The scriptures speak for themselves, my words are of no value.

INDEED!

That's what I've been giving you.
STRAIGHT from the BIBLE........in the PROPER CONTEXT!

But for some reason..................you don't seem to agree with them..............thus I'm asking:

What's your point?

Genesis 3:4
New International Version
“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.

Who's explanation are we going to respect and believe, what God told Adam and Eve or what the serpent said?

Christ's explanation!
He explained it.

I've already shown you GOD's words that support the interpretation that Adam and Eve were not created immortals!

Therefore - they would EVENTUALLY, PHYSICALLY die, whether they ate from the tree or not!

How old was Adam when he died?

Why does the Bible explain "you shall surely die" Genesis 2:17, "For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” Gen. 3:19 in the book of Genesis, why does the book of Genesis explain these details in the first place? And the fact that in the creation account, no mention of Jehovah creating hellfire...He warned Adam of death, surely He would've warned him if he would burn forever?🤔

Seriously?
😁

Lol - you give that for an argument?

God didn't explain about false teachings either!

Christ's explanation!
Wouldn't you say two scriptures explaining something in the book of Genesis, is much better than zero scriptures explaining nothing?

It is not important for me to debate over this word or that word, I just let the scriptures speak for themselves, and read all the context and all the scriptures, and pray for guidance at every opportunity. 2nd Timothy 3:16-17; John 17:17; Psalms 119:160

I told yo Christ explained about the second death.

I still don't know what you're on about...............................UNLESS, you don't consider The NEW TESTAMENT as Scriptures.

How many scriptures do those who believe in the hellfire doctrine ignore and twist others, to fit their agenda?
The one video you have, in less than 4 minutes provides the scriptural evidence about hell.

These scriptures agree with each-other. Some scriptures can be taken in two or three different ways, I have picked a perspective that agrees with the many other scriptures in the Bible.

1.In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” Gen. 3:19 NKJV
2. For the fates of both men and beasts are the same: As one dies, so dies the other—they all have the same
[ **breath/spirit ]. Man has no advantage over the animals, since everything is futile. 20 All go to one place; all come from dust, and all return to dust. Ecc. 3:19, 20 Berean Standard Bible
3. But your dead will live, LORD; their bodies will rise— let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shout for joy— your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead. Isaiah 26:19 NIV
4. “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death" Hosea 13:14 NKJV
5. When his [ *spirit/breath KJB ] departs, he returns to the ground; on that very day his plans perish. Psalm 146:4
6. "For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten. NIV Ecc. 9:5
7. Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun. NIV Ecc. 9:6
8. and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit/breath returns to God who gave it. NIV Ecc. 12:7
9. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” New International Version 1 Corinthians 15:54
( Death has been swallowed up - because in the resurrection they will get everlasting life )
10. Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

11. "And I will raise them up at the last day" NIV John 6:44
12. "And you, Daniel, go rest to the end, and you shall rise in your time at the end of days." Daniel 12:13 Peshitta Holy Bible
13. "The word I have spoken will judge him on the last day." John 12:48 Holman Christian Standard Bible
14. John 5:28 “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29 and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.
15. John 5:24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but "has crossed over from death to life". ( My perspective is these ones are in God's memory and get life.)
16. John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me "will never die". NIV
( My perspective is King David is physically dead but we know the Bible says he did not ascend to heaven Acts 2:34, David is in God's memory and will be resurrected to life, victory over death is promised to the faithful, on judgment day in the future, so if we consider the resurrection, David is only dead figuratively because we know he will be raised back to life in the future, considering these facts David "will never die".)
17. Daniel 12:2-3 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise[a] will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. NIV

Destruction...can't get any more clear than that...

destruction

the action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.

the action or process of killing or being killed.

a cause of someone's ruin.

Let us remember, that the Genesis account speaks of two particular trees within the garden that are relevant to our question.
On the one hand, the nature of God’s command was that Adam and Eve could eat from every tree of the garden except from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil; for in the day that they eat of it, they will surely die. Yet, on the other hand, we are told that upon eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, God expelled Adam and Eve from the garden and placed a cherub with a flaming sword at the entrance to prevent them
from re-entering. It is here where the Genesis text reveals something very interesting.

We see that the reason God expels Adam and Eve from the garden was to prevent them from having access to the “Tree of Life”:

“Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil. And now lest he reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever…”
Therefore, the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken…” (Genesis 3:22-23).

It seems as though the text is indicating that the immortality of Adam and Eve was dependent upon their access to the tree of life.
Since Adam most definitely died spiritually in the day that he ate of the fruit, God saw fit to remove man from the garden lest he eat from the tree of life and have physical immortality while also being spiritually dead
thus forever remaining in that state.

Now I suppose this raises more questions than it answers. But I think it is sufficient to conclude that the immortality of our first parents was contingent upon their access to the Tree of Life.

And to prevent man from living forever in a fallen state, God barred access to the Tree of Life and expelled Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden.

I extend to you peace, kindness and happiness to you and your family, I think we do have one thing in common that is very important, we both love Jesus and his Father and the Bible. :) ❤️ And in the next life I think we will all be much more united than we are today.

Now - since you BOTH believe that you won't ever have a life after your physical death, shouldn't you do something useful with the time you have living the remainder of your one and only life?
Well, attempting to educate others who are woefully misguided and living in some false reality would seem to be a "useful" thing to do.....
