What exactly is wrong with "Nationlism"?

The USA is the best country in the world. I'm proud to live here. I'm nationalistic that way.

I also think the world is a better place when all the countries get along and can interact peacefully. I'm globalistic that way.

...but suffer no illusions. For me, the USA comes first. Our government should not be sacrificing our status in global affairs for the sole purpose of appeasing other countries (see the entire Obama presidency).

No it wasn't. Marxists fought against the Nazis. Do you know anything about history?
Your totally invalid supposition is a desperate attempt to rationalize the irrational.

You've confused a struggle of ideologies with the two biggest apes beating their chests.

Lets consider the late Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China for example.

Both of these nations were devout communists, yet they were longtime bitter enemies.

Which is quite common whenever Marxists are involved in a struggle to usurp power.

I always looked at it like this:
Nationalism : You place the needs of your fellow citizens above others
Globalism : All people regardless of nationality are to be treated equally.

It wasn't long ago that Nationalism was pretty much bipartisan but it has now become a clear divide with Republicans and Democrats.

I personally view myself as a nationalist because I see the needs of fellow Americans as more important than citizens of other countries. I find it disgusting that the federal government sends billions of dollars overseas when that money could be going to help with the impoverished and homeless we have in this country. I don't hate anyone and in fact love other cultures, I just feel it is the government's job is prioritize it's own citizens above others.

While most of those have claimed Marx as their inspiration, it is my understanding that Hitler was both anti-capitalist and anti-marxist. I will be the first to admit I have little knowledge on these and still have much to learn so feel free to correct me.

I do find it funny that in order for Socialism to work you have to have a Nationalist society since socialism with open borders is doomed to fail. So in essence, to want a successful socialist state then you want to be a Nazi.

The Marxists defended themselves against a Nazi attack. The Marxists never intended to destroy the Nazis. In fact, the Maexists and the Nazis were in cahoots prior to the summer of 1941.

I don't see anything wrong with nationalism so long as it doesn't devolve to the point of disrespecting the human rights of those in other countries. America is the greatest country on earth bar none, that's something to be proud about. However, other countries are also awesome and being an American doesn't make you any better, or worth anymore as a person, than someone who lives in another country.

It becomes problematic when this belief system is used as a foundation for conquest and control of other nations, militarily or economically.

That is not nationalism. It is greed and lust for power and control. Nothing at all wrong with nationalism in the true sense.

The only people who find anything wrong with nationalism are globalist/internationalist scum.

That would be me. Sorry if I believe in free markets and trade. I guess that makes me a horrible person.

Well disregard my last statement about Hitler being anti-marxist. I just watched a video from an Austrian woman talking about what was going on when Hitler took over and she said it was radical Marxism. Listening to her talk about what happened there and seeing what is happening here in America is pretty disheartening with all the similarities.

Nothing is wrong if you do not confuse it with racism

No, that is not my claim...

What I'm claiming is that their respective ideologies were all rooted in the teachings of Marx.

Your claim is wrong because Nazi ideology was not rooted in the teaching of Marx.

It is hard to take you seriously when you seem to be under the misconception that Marx invented the concept of socialism.

Marxist don't consider National Socialism to be "true" socialism.

It gets in the way of "one world order".

Nationalism in itself is not bad, taking to extremes always is.

Addressing the argument about Hitler and Nazis, let me ask a question why is it nearly every White Nationalist organization in the US emulates the Nazis in words, hanging swastikas in their homes can meeting halls, why is they use the Nazi salute, are they all really communists, only a complete moron would believe the Nazis are Communists are the same ideologies, in fact they were killing each other in the streets of Germany before the Nazis took power and they were ruthless with those they considered leaders of the other ideology when captured in war. Good grief people, read some actual history books and learn a little political science while you at it.
Not to worry though, between the Nationalists (Germans and one can include the Japanese), the Communists (Chinese) and Socialists (Russians), they killed enough people to want to avoid any of those ideologies.

Unfortunately you people are obviously and sincerely committed to this popular false narrative.

This lie was created and propagated by the 20th Century Progressive Movement for the purpose of damage control upon discovery of the atrocities committed by Adolf Hitler.

It is hard to take you seriously when you seem to be under the misconception that Marx invented the concept of socialism.
I have no such misconception; but Karl Marx along with Friedrich Engels are indeed considered to be the fathers of modern-day socialism/communism.

Although I can't imagine what it has to do with this discussion...

Two forms of Nationalism are Ethnic and Civic.

"Ethnic" of course is based on nationality or even race, while the one I support "Civic" is based simply on being a legal citizen that is loyal to the basic principles they credit for their nation's greatness.

"Nationalists" can create whatever ideo-political form of Nationalism that they believe best suites the needs of the perfect nation they envision.

I know much about nationalism ,but it turns to racism somehow when it comes to blacks!

There's a whole book written about exactly that. Unfortunately, my German is rusty.

Actually; it turns to "racism" when it comes to any minority group, due to decades of progressive propaganda.

So is your ability to function with an open mind.

You do well to put "rascism" in quotes. Anyone who uses the word "rascist" indicates that they believe in the long outdated concept of 'races', dreamt up by bearded Victorians; they don't exist. As has become abundantly clear since the discovery of DNA there are no 'races', just a vast number of gene pools, all of which overlap with others.

So I'm repeating what I have said in so many other threads? Tediously boring, or even boringly tedious, but oh! how so necessary.
