As I said, leave it up to the individual states. that's what the Xth Amendment to the US Constitution is for.

Do you realize this is more moderate than the platform the Republicans ran on in 2012, which called for a Federal Marriage Amendment prohibiting gay marriage in all fifty states?

But I think it would satisfy the Social conservatives and remain true to the tenents of Conservatism.

Easy. Compromise is realizing your political ideology doesn't encompass the whole country and you will have to live with some things you don' agree with.

That's the Webster's definition, but I was referring to strategy. Let the Democrats run roughshod over congress. Give them everything they want with no debate, no opposition whatsoever. And then when, not if, but when the Democratic screwups start happening, all the GOP has to do is sit back and enjoy the show.
