What Do You Think Went Through The Minds Of Those 800 Generals Today?...With A Drunk Rapist And Racist Fox News Host Like Pete Hegseth Lecturing Them?

Sure and that in no way obviates my point.

Of course it does - there was zero damage to "good order, discipline, and morale". What WOULD have been damaging to all of those things, and more, is to allow that expertise to be lost for some arbitrary metric.

It is not at all an arbitrary metric - it is the standard they are responsible for imposing on others as a requirement for maintaining their position in the service.

Maybe things are different in the National Guard, but in Active Duty forces, we expected commanders and officers - especially senior ones - to be Leaders.

So 50 year old generals are going to be expected to meet the same standards as 18 year old infantry privates?

Well "T and H" can preform for anyone they want. I hope this "shaping up" continues in the military and beyond.
You don't get it.
It was just theatre, that whole bullshit production. Just theatre, and all those military brass were just theatrical extras. They were like the Munchkins in the Wizard of Oz.
Why do you think the cameras were there?

Pete Hegseth is the wrong messenger.

All the despicable shit that Hegseth has done during his life.....for him to lecture accomplished military officers like that? It just illustrates that he is a true sociopath with absolutely no self-awareness....just like his boss.

I especially love the rant he went on about “accusations”. You could hear in inner sexual assaulter coming out.

The standards are relaxed for military members as they get older.

A 50 year old in the military is not expected to have the same 1 1/2 mile run time as a 20 year old.

I don't think the standards are the problem.

If there is a problem (which I doubt) it's that the military is worn out from being endlessly at war for two decades.

This was merely another rah rah speech, albeit on a grand scale.

The real creepy scary part was what DJT had to say.

I agree. It’s okay to not have a single standard everyone is required to match.

I didn't support his nomination or confirmation, and agree that he's not earned a lot of personal credibility within the Department.

That, however, does not make literally every policy idea that gets put into practice a bad one.

I have my own issues with the way we have done height/weight (I think that we should get rid of those standards for people with high first-class PFTs; I remember having one female Marine who was sent to me as being "obese" because she was a body builder. Girl had resting abs and the Marine Corps wanted to know why she was "fat" ), but enforcing the PFT at the GO/FO level is a very - very - minor issue. None of them should fail it anyway, and any who do should indeed be gone.

So you don’t believe in a single standard.

Are you asking what "cpwill would do, given free reign", or are you asking "what will be done"?

Because the question you asked originally:

So 50 year old generals are going to be expected to meet the same standards as 18 year old infantry privates?

Seemed to be focused on what standards the GO/FO's are going to be expected to meet, v some kind of cpwill-is-king-for-a-day thing.
