What do you think of the War of Northern Attrition?

My brain can’t get over @NoahUSA claiming that the Southern white supremacist slavers didn’t strip African slaves of their culture, history, and symbols.

Our Founding Fathers obviously did an excellent job with our federal Constitution, we can't do a better job today.

Most of our problems stem from the moral turpitude of not faithfully executing what They ordained and established for ourselves and our Posterity.
 
Ok to demonstrate, put yourself in the shoes of a slave. Since the op thinks the only thing wrong with slavery is that it was racial. Imagine jeff bezos being the master that bought you.

Do you have a sister? Brother? Younger nephew?

The current status of wealth distribution in society is leading to few companies owning vast swaths of the economy and setting the terms of how that wealth is being used which is making upward mobility more difficult.

Jeff Bezos buys your sister and now owns your sister as livestock. You are never able to see your sister again because Jeff Bezos now owns her and can ship her off to his private island in say the carribean. You will never be able to write to her, she will never be able to see you.

Would you accept this? If you say no then you understand why “defending their property rights” is indefensible.

What message are you trying to convey by showing the flag of a nation that was formed primarily for the specific purpose of maintaining and extending the scourge of slavery?
 
I find it interesting that those who dwell on the loss of the Civil War by the South never seem to state that slavery & racism are unacceptable. I can't help but wonder whether or not they want to bring back slavery.

What I'd like to implore for everyone to do is pressure them to state one way or another where they stand with slavery & racism; pressure them & demand from them that they be upfront about their position on slavery.

I am an old southerner......I will tell you that the majority of southerners are white supremacists.......most have the good sense to keep it to themselves and their immediate peer groups and live in peace......but there is little association between black and white outside of work or school......most just don't like to be around each other....white and black.....and as free men guaranteed the civil rights of our Constitution this is our right to do so......and THAT is the crux of this discussion imo.......slavery was wrong period.....the Civil War was inevitable.....it could never have been won by the South on the battlefields..... slavery had to be abolished ......the Constitution and the Bill of Rights clearly defines the reasons.....today's extremist white supremacists are the vocal edge of the fact that so many cannot accept equality....and that is pure and simple ignorance that has and does result in these pathetic never ending discussions....it will take many more generations for us to evolve beyond this

And for that you should give thanks to the mercy extended by Lincoln and Grant in sparing their Civil War counterparts from trial and execution. Which otherwise from that could easily have happened. And in retrospect probably should've happened.

Star of the West was fired upon by South Carloina shore batteries on January 9, 1861. January is before April is it not? Buchanan was still in office.

Your citation of the Star of the West is just another dodge to try to prove greater culpability for the South. Of course Buchanan didn't declare war over that; he's on his way out, let the new guy worry about it. Lincoln COULD have immediately declared war on the South for their firing on that ship. Why didn't he? If you claim to know history, let's hear your flimsy excuse. Having seen that the South was willing to take up arms, why did he continue to provoke them by sending supplies to Sumter?

The 1805 contract was obviously cancelled by the new game in town. Learn to think.
