They are a brutal authoritarian regime, within their borders. Ask Hong Kong, democracy protesters, Mongolia, Tibet, Uyghurs... They have occasional aggression outside, such as their actions in the 'South China Sea'.
They are building their power - surpassing the US economy, developing alliances and soft power with a majority of the world, often peeling them away from the US, threatening the US dominance in finance, building a massively powerful military, ahead of the US in every major new technology.
They have massive levels of propaganda - which are currently being used to portray them as peace-loving. So far they are backing this up with a very low level of direct aggression outside their borders, albeit supporting others who are aggressive like Putin, while the world sees the US doing things like the genocide in Gaza and the war on Iran.
It seems inevitable their is a super-power, cold war-like conflict between China and the US, China and most of the world as its allies against the US and its shrinking list of allies. The US has seen them as the main global competitor for decades. The nature of that conflict can be expected to include huge propaganda, economic and political alliances, possible sanctions, and a threat of military conflict.
My question is, what do you think their plan is? They're on track to surpassing the US in the areas above they will simply 'win' as they dominate in the economy, in political power, in industry, an military power, and more. It seems more likely the US will feel the need to start a war to try to protect its power, as was apparently considered in the early Bush presidency before 9/11 changed course.
We already see the one example. Putin invades Ukraine. The US is an unreliable protector, the US and Europe are not doing very well at defending them and the rule of law. North Korea sends troops to help Putin, China supports both Russia and North Korea, and proves markets for their oil and goods undermining western sanctions. China seems likely to have ambitions for global power. What do you think their plan is?
