We are very contented. But as for third party voters in 2016, there were some 9 million of us who voted against both Trump and Clinton. Think about that, 6% third party voters in 2016, 1.5% in 2012, 1.2% in 2008 and 1.0% in 2004. Because of who the two major parties chose in 2016, those who voted against both quadrupled from 2012 and Sextuple of those who voted against both major parties candidates in 2004.
Has to be a reason for that many people voting for someone they knew had no chance of winning. Total dislike. Hillary was viewed positive by just 38% of all Americans, 56% negative. Trump was viewed positive by just 36% and negatively by 60%.
In fact 25% of all Americans disliked both major party candidates which included 54% of all independents. Talk about two unwanted as your next president candidates.
One in Four Americans Dislike Both Presidential Candidates
It's not me, it's the fact the two major parties came up with the two most unwanted candidates to become the next president ever. The only other major party candidate who was view positive by less than 50% of all Americans was Barry Goldwater in 1964 at 43%. But his negative was 47%. This leaves only two major party candidates who were disliked by more than 50% of all Americans, Trump at 60% and Clinton at 56%. Record holders are those two. Barry can rest in peace, he isn't the most disliked presidential candidate anymore. Trump and Clinton are.
