What did you have for dinner? -Part dois

Well, I was going to make beast stew for tonight but we got busy doing other stuff and it got too late. However, I did make a quick chicken soup with diced pre cooked chicken breast, chicken stock, carrots, onions, celery, and rice noodles. We had four hard boiled eggs in the fridge so presto chango it became egg salad on 15 grain bread. Beast stew will have to wait till tomorrow.
We had an @Old 'N Chill salad with home grown spinach, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes and a honey mustard dressing. Yum.

Huh. I suppose that makes a sort of sense.

I don't put pepper on everything, and I usually use dry powder or flakes. Ghost chili powder is the most common one. This is my favorite:

But yeah, it's a few times hotter than a habenero so...

But it's got a great intense fruity-smoky flavor.

I use all sorts of specific chili powders but more sparingly the more I learn about cooking. More about the flavor than heat but still more than most guests want :) I've started doing the roasting/toasting dried chilis and grinding or making rojo sauces from them, like birria. I also love Calabrian chilis and Calabrian chili paste and chipotles in adobo. I puree an entire can and freeze it in ice cube trays...and it's an overall great kick when cooking.

I do a lot of dry rubs on meats and then I also roast chicken breasts and assorted vegetables in specific mixes that I make, like a few different Mexican ones, Ethiopian, a couple of Indian ones, bere bere, Jamaican, etc. Just toss it all in a bowl with olive oil and roast/bake. Fast and healthy.

We stopped by a takeout Chinese place after my Drs appointment and running errands and I got a pint of hot and sour soup and an veggie egg roll.

I LOVE hot and sour soup. One of the places here will make it for me without mushrooms...heaven.

But if you like mushrooms, they make it with big meaty chunks of them...which I suppose mushroom eaters appreciate.

I absoluety crave mushrooms in all forms. Ive made H&S with both fresh and dried shiitakes and Its much cheaper and easier to buy it. The pint of soup was only $4.50.

The shop had Ramune soda in the bottle cooler and I found a bottle of lychee flavor. YUM!

Mushrooms have started sounding good again. I need to schedule a salad bar lunch in the next couple weeks.

Poi, pork cooked in a pit on hot rocks, mashed potato, teriyaki steak, ahi poke, and macadamia chocolate torte for dessert.

And a Mai Tai to start and a black Manhattan after dinner.
Sounds like someone is in Hawaii?

Pot roast with lots of carrots, potatoes, onion and celery. Hubby went for seconds and before the night is over he will likely have thirds.
Just hoping there's enough for dinner tomorrow! If not, it will be takeout.

Currently making steak and baked potatoes. We'll see how this shit goes. Might add in some other veggies. I suck at steakery.
Update : I didn't mess up the steak this time. I tenderized it with the base of a knife, and then forked the whole thing. Four minutes per side on medium high, and then I briefly microwaved it. Baked potato was great, and I steamed some mixed veggies on the side. We'll see what my wife thinks in a bit. My opinion is that this one was much better than my most recent attempt.

I'd still probably trade it for a burger, though.
