We went on a Saturday, busy still. We went on a Sunday, mistakenly thinking everybody would be in church, wrong! Dublin on Sunday morning looks like the first day of a county fair.
"That Paris exists and anyone could choose to live anywhere else in the world will always be a mystery to me".

I could live in the Caribbean. They seemed tolerant of casual dress.
Hey...remember how one tribe was complaining that Senator Fetterman wasn't dressing properly?
Which tribe was that? The one that complained Zelenski didn't wear a suit?Hey...remember how one tribe was complaining that Senator Fetterman wasn't dressing properly?
Very.
He doesn't. He wouldn't even meet Walmart's dress code.

.......... Verasailles............sigh! My spell checker is gone for the day and I'm not allowed to go out spelling on my own because this happens. Two things: Standing in the opulent vastness of Verasailles and suddenly realizing why there are revolutions and the cheerful comradery with a French woman selling me a sweater at a farmer's market after putting up with the snotty waiters and salespeople in Paris.
Professionally reserved.Surly wait staff
Thank God. That ranks up in my irks with the bank teller thanking me (first name) for my deposit.Professionally reserved.
You won't find a an American style "hi my name is Bill and I'll be taking care of you!!!" server in France.
French customers would be very put off by a familiar greeting from a server.Thank God. That ranks up in my irks with the bank teller thanking me (first name) for my deposit.
I know of no quality restaurant that serves large portions. None, zero, zilch.
Looks like the style Trump aimed for (and missed!)Spectacular Cathedrals. The birthplace of Gothic architecture which enabled thinner walls and larger windows.

I know of some fine eating places that serve Chinese dishes and usually there is more than you can eat in one hour or so. My memory is not so great these days, but going way back I think most Chinese type places have been like that, if it is a group meal arrangement.
McDonald's has no place in this conversation. In fact, just thinking about this; at the McDonald's place
Not at all. Many people rave about all the food they get. They have a second full meal to take hone .As I think about your post, I am thinking that large portions served at a number of eating places isn't that unusual
French waiters in Paris are not professionally reserved, they are just snotty.Professionally reserved.

That’s because there are few Walmarts to show off in.Something I like about Europe that is exemplified in France (and Italy) is everyday street style.
People, even kids and teenagers, dress so fashionably.
Even older retired people dress to impress.
Maybe they don't like you.French waiters in Paris are not professionally reserved, they are just snotty.
Maybe so.Maybe they don't like you.
