What Comes After Impeachment?

Baloney. Mueller said it might have been a man he named by name who gave Assange the emails. Mueller proved nothing about how Assange got the info from the DNC.

LOL He indicted 9 Russians for the crime. You are living a dream world.

You mean The House, Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. You're welcome.
Any impeachment at this point, for anything short of Treason, will die at the doorstep of the Senate. Simple as that.

What do you call him talking to Putin and not even telling him not to keep meddling in our elections? Doesn't that make him a co-conspirator in the meddling and a violation of his oath to protect us from enemies?

Does not matter what I think it means, not what you think, the evidience while compelling is not enough for a court if law and as such the Senate bill will reject it.
Forget this path, use it in 2020, and beat him at the polls, if turn out is good he is toast, leave it at that.

What happens next?

Congress takes up impeachment, the results are forwarded to the Senate and the Senate ...

... laughs hysterically and ensures that all of the clowns who started this hoax are thrown in a cage.

Just how much damage do we find acceptable in the mean time? Who knows what Trump will do next? The only thing good about waiting until 2020 is that we can prosecute Trump for his crimes after he loses.

You/we have to live with it unless he goes completely off the rails.
Leave that to the SDNY to deal with, State crimes do not fall under Presidential pardons.

Trump will be removed from office. Pence will become President. Democrats will call for a special counsel to investigate his religious beliefs. Pence will be impeached. The Senate will convict. Pence will be removed from Office. Pelosi will become president. The world will rejoice. Doves will fly from the hands of babies. Manna will fall from a decidedly non-religious but essentially earth bound spiritual force and the bellies of the hungry will be filled. The seas will become bountiful with fish which we will no longer kill. The air will be cleansed and polluting cars, trains and planes will be replaced by magic carpets propelled by love and peace. The glaciers will grow back, the deserts will bloom, and humankind will no longer want for anything.

I am thinking this quote needs a theme song. I'm thinking a little Steppenwolf will do the trick. What say you?

None of those Russians will ever go to trial which is too bad because the facts will then not come out in court that no Russian had anything to do with Wikileaks release of DNC emails.

Congress takes up impeachment, the results are forwarded to the Senate and the Senate votes to convict, speaking hypothetically, here.

What follows a vote to impeach? Is there an appeal? Is the Presidency over?

First, the House drafts articles of impeachment and it must pass the house with 2/3rd vote, at this time the President is impeached. However, there will need to be a trial in the Senate, if the Senate decides by a 2/3rds vote, if no majority is supported then it is over and the POTUS stays in office. If the Senate decides to try the impeachment articles the the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will sit in as judge. If the Senate finds the POTUS guilty of the articles of impeachment he will be removed from office and the VP will assume the office of President.

impeachment isn't coming. if the Democrats in the House do that, the Senate won't convict, and might not even consider it, which would be a constitutional crisis. the current president is above the law until he is expelled from office at the polls or by term limits.

.
Personal opinion, forget it, beat him in the election anything else would only result in more damage to the Nation.

They dont think they can defeat him, thus their need for impeachment.

Oh,. I don't think you're right there, they beat him, but whom will it be, that is the question, what would the result be.

Here in America he would no longer be President and the guy who beat him becomes President. Of course.

Nope, not how it works. Here in America the VP assumes the office and if both are removed then the Speaker if the House becomes President. Ekkk

Either Don Jr. or Ivanka

Worked for the Bush’s and the Clintons, well they tried it too...but James Comey phocked that all up. Oh, and Hillary played a SMALL part too.

For this reason, the House must proceed with impeachment hearings or the President will effectively become untouchable. That is not our system. If we fail to assert the notion of co-equal branches then we are following in the footsteps of Rome. Caesar was killed in the Senate for this very reason, to protect the Republic. It did not accomplish its goal as Rome never recovered its original structure with Emperors ruling until the very end. But one can understand why they did it if one believes the Republic or in this case the constitution is more important then any single person or situation. I am not advocating that remedy, we have remedies in the constitution but they are under attack and once precedent has been set, their really is no further remedy to us in the future.

The chance of conviction in the Senate approaches zero. The best path forward is to vote out as many cultists as possible, and to repeat that in future elections.

You dont have a clue. If "they beat him" in an election, the new guy becomes President.

Nice dream except the senate would never move to convict trump. I meant the republican controlled senate led by fearless mitch and lindsey, the top ass kissers.

In an election, under other circumstances what I posted is the way it works.

I of course was referring to the post of YOURS quoted in my post, referring to elections. So you run elsewhere. Typical.

I did not run elsewhere, I am talking about the topic if this thread, maybe you should try sticking to the Topic.

The power to impeach is not dependent upon pre-arranged approval of the Senate, it is a statement of power by the House. The Senate has the right to convict but not to forbid or restrict the power of the House to impeach.
