What are you listening to? ver. 15.0

Chris Daughtry's new single...

One of the guitar players from the band seems really underrated at best.

starts better than it ends ... but worth listening to:

when he first recorded it, he had Duane Allman playing guitar:

Great song...

This song was originally an obscure bonus track from the album “11”. Here it is with a live 2020 vocal recorded to the TV track on Bryan’s iPhone.

I don't wanna be no soldier - I don't wanna shoot no gun
I don't wanna drop no bomb - I don't wanna hurt no one
I don't wanna fight no battles - I don't wanna settle no score
I don't even understand - what we're fightin' for
No it ain't my war

That's the way of the world - that's what they tell me
That's the way of the world - they can't sell me
That's the way of the world - I can't explain it
That's the way of the world - but we can change it

We're burnin up the ozone layer - we're walkin' on a real thin wire
Stirrin' up a hurricane - playin' with the devil's fire
Got a lot of dirty water - got a lot of dirty air
Got skeletons in the closet - but nobody looks in there
'Cause they're all scared

That's the way of the world - that's what they tell me
That's the way of the world - they can't sell me
That's the way of the world - I can't explain it
That's the way of the world - but we can change it

I just wanna live in peace now - with my guitar and my girl
Raise a little family - that's way it's supposed to be
That's the way of the world - yeah
That's the way of the world
That's the way of the world

That's the way of the world - that's what they tell me
That's the way of the world - they can't sell me
That's the way of the world - I can't explain it
That's the way of the world - but we can change it

That's the way of the world
That's the way of the world

^ those glasses are to die for!

Meanwhile here's this for what it's worth:

what do you think?

Reminds me a little of Joni Mitchell. What do you think?

damn. i would have never made that connection
but now that you point it out it cannot be 'unseen'

never a huge fan of folk, joni was the rare artist with a folk background whose music i found intriguing

I raise you some Medieval folk rock, the guitarist used to be in Deep Purple and Rainbow.

Sounds nice, even though i don't understand what they are singing about.

If there were to be a chronological order to this album, 900 Days would have to be the first song. The closure that it brought me was the jumping board to a new exploration of self.
The end of my last relationship left me feeling betrayed. Not by my partner, but by love itself... or more precisely by myself. My notions and ideals left me spiralling downward. Again.
I needed to write this song, to capsulate the time in that relationship in order to move forward.

900 days turned into dust
900 kisses all dried into rust
900 doctors but nobody heard
of 900 stitches just for saving a bird

She danced along
the road I had drawn
with blood of my trust
I gave her all
then I gave more
than I thought I had lost

No more can you see me calling
No more can you see me calling
I know you know what my feet (are) for
I’m gonna use them for some walking

900 days to try to forget
there are 900 kisses to live to regret

Everyone knows
that everything goes
back to the ground
Everywhere grows
what everyone sows
now look what I found

when the rain comes
you’ll be my shadow
I’ll be your arc

Janis Ian folks. Voted most likely to turn goth by her junior high classmates.
