(WGN News) Man shot, killed by ICE in Franklin Park ID’d; agent severely injured
--
ICE stated that they were conducting law enforcement activity in the 9800 block of Grand Avenue and subsequently conducted a vehicle stop. A man resisted and attempted to drive his vehicle into the arresting team, according to ICE.

The agent was dragged, according to ICE.

The agent discharged his firearm and struck the man driving. Both the man and the agent were transported to a local hospital.

The man, identified by the Department of Homeland Security as Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the agent was stabilized but suffered severe injuries, according to ICE.

A fatal incident arose Friday, in what has otherwise been relatively uneventful ICE activity in Chicago.

During an ICE traffic stop in a Chicago suburb, ICE is reporting a Franklin Park IL man "dragged" an ICE agent with his car, the agent was "severely" injured, subsequently using deadly force upon the individual.

I added quotation marks above, as there seems to be possible incongruity in the story. ICE is refusing to release their video footage, and local news is reporting the purportedly severely injured ICE agent was not long after released from the hospital.

In addition, publicly obtained video only displays one of the two involved ICE agents attempting to enter the deceased's vehicle on the passenger side, but does not display images of the driver's side where the activities involved in the killing took place.

It's also worth noting the victim's girlfriend was a passenger in the car during the incident.

And I just was over in that area getting a hotdog at Gene and Jude’s. Didn’t know I should now carry my passport with me to get a depression dog.

Didn’t think that area was strongly Hispanic, but maybe it is?

Franklin Park has a large manufacturing base, and these days that often means a lot of Hispanic workers.

G & J dogs are fine, but IMO it's about the fries. That, and the ambience & late-nite hours.

If you ever get a chance while further up north, consider trying Rand Red Hots, on Rand Road in Des Plaines. They're a G & J knock-off, but baby! They're doing something right with their fries! Seriously.

There should be an investigation and the agent who discharged their weapon and killed a man should be on desk duty while that occurs.

If it was a clean shoot, fine. But it should be investigated and not simply brushed under the rug

Honestly, except for ballparks, I only eat hotdogs from Gene &Jude or Jimmys on Pulaski. And the fries *are* part of the dog!

If ICE agents are going to be running these type of operations they need to wear body cameras.

Typically, ICE gets tipped of something like a packing plant employing a lot of people that shouldn't be here or an order to nab someone specific that broke a law. They go, they grab their person, they leave.

ICE manning checkpoints and just grabbing people off the streets randomly or shooting people in city streets even with cause, they need a body camera to prove they should be able to use that force.

I think you'd do well to consider Rand's, if you're in the area. At the least, to try their fries. IMHO, the fries are superior to G & J.
