They don't care about the morality of their candidate. Only the other candidate gets scrutinized.Your two sentences indicate you agree with the professor's thesis. People do not care about the morality of the candidate, no matter how bad they are.
When Trump becomes president again, I believe that we will be seeing a bit more authoritarianism in this country. The top court seems pretty dedicated to the Constitution, unlike previous courts. That means that Trump is right in line with them. Congress, both houses, is under control of the Republicans. So the type of obstruction, and let's face it, outright treason we saw in 2017 is unlikely to repeat.
I think the America first agenda to restore the Constitution, individual liberty, and American leadership has a pretty good shot of success. Obviously democrats, along with China, Russia, and Iran will do all they can to subvert and scuttle it. Still this is the best chance America has had since Reagan.
You know those MSNBC talking points only work in the minds of the left wingers right?I never previously realized there were so many Americans sympatico with felons, racists, and Nazis. The advent of Trumpism has allowed such creatures to slither out from their mildewy spidey-holes.
Terribly sad day for America. And just in case anyone gets the notion that maybe Trump has reformed, his miserable appointments drive a wooden stake into any such Pollyannish optimism.
The article spells out exactly who Trump is and what America now represents. But look at all of the MAGA posters here that emulate Trump's vile and disgusting, anti-American behaviors. These people and their rancid stench make this website intolerable for many. You can read the full article here. Here are some snippets on key points:
This is a terrific, but sad great read. Quite frankly, I cannot disagree with a single word he wrote. Do you guys think human decency is dead?

That's total bullshit. Quite the contrary, "Party above all" is obviously the Republican credo. I won't even bother citing the dozens of spot on criticisms of Trump that his own elected party members voiced, who then ignored their own claims that he was unfit for office, saying they would vote for him anyway. They have to defend it. Party above all is the democrat credo.
There's no objective standard for morality or decency. They are inherently relative and everyone has their own standard. Some may think wearing a revealing bikini at the beach is indecent while other go to full nude beaches and see nothing wrong with that.Out of simple curiosity, with a solid promise to not respond with judgement or ridicule, only requests for clarification if necessary, after scrutinizing your candidate, how do you score him in morality and decency, how would you describe morality and decency, and how important do you think morality and decency are, in terms of traits a leader should have?
Decency is no longer important to those who voted for trump. You can read the full article here. Here are some snippets on key points:

OTOH, many cases they overlap - most people think murder is immoral.
As for morality in a leader, his or her sense of morality should guide their actions, but face facts - being a leader sometimes means to commit cold blooded murder if the target is OBL or that Sinwar guy. If you think that's too immoral then maybe you shouldn't be a leader. In fact leaders rank high on the psychopathy index along with surgeons and CEOs. They have to be the sort of person who can calmly cut people open, fire them from their jobs, or blow them to bits if necessary.
I seriously don't much care about a leader's sense of decency. Trump cheats on his wife? So what? So did JFK and Bill Clinton. There are FBI surveillance wiretaps of MLK saying shit far worse than Trump's "grab em by the *****" comment.
John Quincy Adams used to go swim buck ass naked in the Potomac. Was it indecent? Don't answer until you see his picture.
Some things can't be unseen!
I would never expect there to be perfect alignment of values. As I already said, everyone has their own standard of what is and is not moral. Thanks, this helps with something else I'm working through.
One last question, if you don't mind. Is it important to you that the person you vote for reflects your values, and if so, how would you feel if the values of the person you voted for ceased to reflect your values after you gave them your vote?
It's interesting that you would make a point of somehow equating being dressed with morality and decency while, unto itself, it would seem to have nothing to do with either. I've never thought of nudity as being either immoral or indecent. Of course, your average Sunni or Shia would certainly feel otherwise. There's no objective standard for morality or decency. Biden crime family. So dumb. A registration charge and tax cheating. Not exactly the crimes of the century. Trump? The crime of the last two centuries.Since you love the Biden Crime Family, you are in no position to criticize Trump.

I’d say for a long time there’s been no decency in politics. All one needs to look at is all the negative personal political attack ads that saturate the air waves over the last 30 years. As for Trump, is it a lack of decency when one determines the present administration has done a lousy job of governing, hadn’t addressed the issues one deems important. 56% of all Americans disapproved of the job the Biden administration had done over the last 4 years. Probably most of those voted for Trump or against Harris, representing the Biden administration. Most wanted a change in administration in hopes that the new administration could do a better job, if that means Trump, so be it.You can read the full article here. Yeah rightI wouldn't know. I'm an Independent, and I don't peruse any cable talkingheads.
You dont get to choose which assholes you defend. Either defend them all or none of them. You cherry picked and proved your double standards, so youre cred is less than zero.Comparing Biden to Trump is like comparing the common cold to tuberculosis.
So, do you put up a socially acceptable "nice guy" facade or are you sincerely a hateful human being? The good professor is a drama queen.
So, do you cheat on your taxes or enjoy harming baby animals? So, do you put up a socially acceptable "nice guy" facade or are you sincerely a hateful human being?
Certainly not, regarding either. It's called principles. I'm curious if you hold any regarding your fellow man, as you dismissed his critique on the subject as a "drama queen" portrayal. So, do you cheat on your taxes or enjoy harming baby animals?
That’s because he is a drama queen. Call ‘em as I see ‘em.Certainly not, regarding either. It's called principles. I'm curious if you hold any regarding your fellow man, as you dismissed his critique on the subject as a "drama queen" portrayal.
Yeah, how dare this guy speak the truth. Just maybe he calls them the way he sees them, eh? He's not wrong. America just elected a hate filled; 34 times criminal to be the president. Not to mention a guy who continues to appoint radical right winged MAGA's to his cabinet to best implement his Project 2025 and turn this once great democratic democracy into a fascist dictatorship. Just wonderful. That’s because he is a drama queen. Call ‘em as I see ‘em.
That's pretty thickThe problem with your thesis is the ridiculous idea that democrats HAVE any desire to improve people's lives.
democrats want power, absolute power, and care about nothing else. The absurd rant of the professor in the OP is just a temper tantrum over the loss of power by the party.
