West Point alumni group cancels award ceremony for Tom Hanks

The email did not say that he would still receive the award.
It did not say it was cancelled because he would not get it either.

Until you show me something that reverses the award decision, you are clueless.

I don't really have anything against Hanks, fine actor. However, can you tell me what he's done that touches the U.S. Military Academy at West Point tradition of "Duty, Honor, Country?" He's an actor portraying a character. They give awards for doing that, it's theater not Duty.
I think #17 sums it up. How come no belting about Biden?

West Point, NY: The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is pleased to announce that actor/writer/director/producer and philanthropist Tom Hanks will receive the 2025 Sylvanus Thayer Award, which has been given annually since 1958 to an outstanding citizen of the United States whose service and accomplishments in the national interest exemplify personal devotion to the ideals expressed in West Point’s motto: “Duty, Honor, Country.” The award will be presented on September 25, 2025, during ceremonies hosted by the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
“Tom Hanks has done more for the positive portrayal of the American service member, more for the caring of the American veteran, their caregivers and their family, and more for the American space program and all branches of government than many other Americans,” says the Honorable Robert A. McDonald, Class of 1975, WPAOG Board Chairman.

He was selected some time back. The honor is still his. Just the ceremony is cancelled. Unlike you sheople, I verify information before I post.

He was told that he would receive an award in September. There is no reason to believe that he will still receive the award, whether by mail or any other means. Unlike you sheople, I verify information before I post.

LOL...

You repeated my quote and link.

Care to make a wager?

Hanks has more sense of duty and honor in his little finger than Taco holds in his entire corrupt body.

Trump will happily throw anyone from the military under the bus if he feels like it.
Service means nothing to him and he thinks military service is for suckers.

Yes, I can tell you that.

Much of Hanks’ five-decade career reflects his support of veterans, the military, and America’s space program. In 1999, Hanks joined Senator Bob Dole, a 2004 Thayer Award recipient, as national spokesperson for the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. Continuing his commitment to honor those who serve, in 2015, the actor lent his support to Dole’s fundraiser to create the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial in Washington, DC. He has also served as national chairperson of the D-Day Museum Capital Campaign.

Exactly what part of "will receive" do you not understand?
This has Trump classic "petty bullshit" written all over it and you simply cant figure it out.

God forbid. Or is that malignant narcissist scumbag piece of shit liar grifter rapist seditionist felon serial adulterer tax cheat and pedophile forbid?
And yet we have many DP Trump worshippers all too willing to make themselves look like total dumbasses by routinely coming to Trump's defense.

The fact is, we simply do not know if he will still receive the award, which appears to go against Trump's wishes. Considering Trump is on a Retribution Tour, its reasonable to consider he may not get it at all.

Wow. Just wow. You need to kick president Trump out of your head. Stop letting him live rent free there.

Like Rudy's medal of freedom.

Yeah, he's utterly uninterested in injecting himself into every aspect of our lives and our government. 😀
He's in OUR heads but every single act in this country that isn't outright felatio towards him is seen as an attack on him. maga has left the planet.

Yeah, he's utterly uninterested in injecting himself into every aspect of our lives and our government. And he has shown us that retribution is the last thing on his mind. 😀
Wow. Are you really that insecure? Why do you let him live rent-free in your head?

That is explained in the award announcement that has now been linked at least three time. At least I was the first to link it.
