Until everyone can be tested daily, we need to make a HUGE investment in producing N95 Masks for each and every American who can medically tolerate them. Anything short of such an effort will pull the legs out from under our recovery.

I haven't been to find hand sanitizer, wipes, alcohol, gloves and peroxide since March 9th. Surely the greatest country in the world can produce masks for its citizens instead of using scrap fabrics, tee shirts and bandanas. That's a disgrace.

Thank you - that's part of my point

For what?

We don't need N95 masks.

Our economy is going down, further than it has to. We could make it a whole lot easier on ourselves. But some people apparently want another Great Depression. See you on the bread line

Look at a different store. I bought 5 12 oz bottles of hand sanitizer today. They had boxes of gloves as well but I didn't buy/need any. Peroxide/Alcohol I seldom buy but know my sister bought one of my brothers a bottle of the former this weekend. Wipes I have trillions of so haven't really looked for them. The problem is hoarding, not production (and no I did not hoard the hand sanitizer. It was for people at work who don't like the denatured alcohol version we get by the gallon from a local distillery and they had plenty left at $8.00 for 12 oz bottles)

Where? I have been putting out notifications of availability, but haven't had any luck.

Like I said it's not available where I live. But thanks.

I bought mine at a local independent grocery story but was told Food Lion in our area has some. Edit they were 8 oz bottles not 12. Just looked at pix on phone. Never heard of LaRose brand. Was more watery than gel and is non-alcohol.

but if people without masks start breathing on you at work, infection will go back up and businesses will continue to bottom out; clean hands won't be enough

FYI - Nitrile surgical gloves recently were in abundance at my local Costco, cheap and in unlimited quantities. Disposable surgical masks (my preference) have been readily available at Amazon Prime for the past several weeks.

Have you considered disposable surgical masks? They're cheap and extremely comfortable compared to N95.

but they don't protect the wearer - they only keep the wearer from spreading any infection they might have to others. Thus that plan could only work if EVERYBODY wore them and that just won't happen. The only mask that keeps virus away from the wearer is the N95

From COVID-19: How much protection do face masks offer? - Mayo Clinic

"Surgical masks
Also called a medical mask, a surgical mask is a loose-fitting disposable mask that protects the wearer's nose and mouth from contact with droplets, splashes and sprays that may contain germs. A surgical mask also filters out large particles in the air. Surgical masks may protect others by reducing exposure to the saliva and respiratory secretions of the mask wearer.

At this time, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved any type of surgical mask specifically for protection against the COVID-19 virus, but these masks may provide some protection when N95 masks are not available.

N95 masks
Actually a type of respirator, an N95 mask offers more protection than a surgical mask does because it can filter out both large and small particles. The name indicates that the mask is designed to block 95% of very small particles. Like surgical masks, N95 masks are intended to be disposable. However, researchers are testing ways to disinfect N95 masks so they can be reused.

Cloth masks
While surgical and N95 masks are in short supply, cloth masks are more accessible and reusable. Although cloth masks and N95 masks have different purposes, both are intended to slow the spread of COVID-19. A cloth mask is worn to help protect others in case the wearer has the virus. An N95 mask helps protect the wearer from getting the virus from others."

Lutherf and I were right the other day when we predicted you all would move the re-opening goal post.

no, we just want the re-opening to succeed and not be threatened with multiple interruptions and mini shutdowns

You want an impossible standard, so that we never re-open.

There's no way in hell to mask up and test 350 million people per day. Not to mention, it would be impossible to enforce.
