There may well be a serious problem, but the statement from the Seattle port commissioner is not too convincing.
Given that traffic at all US ports are down, it's clearly not normal, and not mere "conjecture."He says that empty berths is something that happens from time to time (if only rarely), but then immediately says that the particular emptiness he's observing now is a "stark reminder" of something. And all the rest is conjecture.
Say what? But the important thing is that China isn't shipping anything
I can tell you're worried.Careful, wouldn't want you to get in trouble here.
You have no concerns about the serious drop in imports arriving at American ports as a result of tariffs?
Well Hell, we are losing to the Canucks...Port of Vancouver is having the opposite problem...
- Increased demand and congestion:
Port of Vancouver is experiencing increased demand for all anchorage classes, leading to limited availability.
- Rail restrictions:
Phased operating limitations are causing delays of 10-14 days for rail access.
- Terminal capacity:
Terminal utilization is high (102%), resulting in berth delays of up to nine days.
- Vessel delays:
Approximately 25% of vessels are awaiting berths, with some delays lasting for weeks.
Huh?A President who doesn't cave or bow the knee to China or other nations taking advantage of taxpayers is refreshing, if you really want to know. Taking advantage of our purchasing power is brilliant and serves the interests of the USA in the longrun. With the many years of corruption that's taken place inside our government, I knew it wasn't going to be an easy, quick fix......yet badly needed to save our country and root out the traitors.
OOOOPS!!!! Chock this up to another hyper partisan bs thread.....one of many.
But...but...its pandelerium! We might all die or maybe worse!!!
Biden's faultSo much of the pro-Trump argument over the past few years was "At least the economy was good"; I have to wonder what the response will be if it just straight up crashes under Trump.
Huh?
Do you live on Earth or where?
This has been an ongoing pattern since January 20. They are told what to think...they mindlessly obey...the incident they are told to be poutraged over dissolves into nothingness...they mindless move onto the next poutrage. It was an editorial by a liberal neckbeard masquerading as a journalist. The OP, likely also a liberal neckbeard, wanted the editorial to be true and believed it.
It's been fun watching the leftoids buy this hook, line, and sinker. They wanted it to be true so badly they never even considered it could be incorrect.
A President who doesn't understand world trade has a loyal following of those who don't know either.....A President who doesn't cave or bow the knee to China or other nations taking advantage of taxpayers is refreshing, if you really want to know. One of the best summations of the Tea Party/MAGA movement to date....This has been an ongoing pattern since January 20. They are told what to think...they mindlessly obey...the incident they are told to be poutraged over dissolves into nothingness...they mindless move onto the next poutrage.
Its been going on for a good solid decade now.
I think you are about top be sadly disappointed but Trump and Fox will help you find a way to spin it.A President who doesn't cave or bow the knee to China or other nations taking advantage of taxpayers is refreshing, if you really want to know. No, Port of Seattle isn't 'empty' due to Trump's tariffs, though cargo volume is unpredictable
"We are seeing some vessels come in with 30% less cargo than anticipated," the Northwest Seaport Alliance said.www.snopes.com
"However, Seattle's marine cargo terminals weren't empty (ship traffic was normal, according to the NWSA)"
But like I said before, shipping traffic has actually been up considerably this year (~+20%), as people made a lot of purchases before tariffs kicked in, so a concomitant withdrawal in container volume is not unexpected. There are only so many flyswatters and boxes of rubber dog shit you can hold in a warehouse.

So that's what they are calling it these days? I guess "Trickle Down" is kind of dated, right?
We subsidize big oil. We subsidize corporate farmers. We subsidize big pharma. We subsidize damn near every other big industry. The reality is these subsidies are designed to prop up prices, not lower them.

Change your mind on your post saying there were container ships in Seattle's port? LOL.No, you're just lying again.
"It's Biden's fault" of course.I have to wonder what the response will be if it just straight up crashes under Trump.
There are currently (at least) two container ships moored in Seattle.Change your mind on your post saying there were container ships in Seattle's port? LOL.
