According to no less an authority than Donald John Trump himself, electric water heaters make people itch. I am curious whether this community's experience matches Donald's personal experience with gas- and electrically-heated water heaters, hence the poll.

Do you have an electrically heated residential water heater, or one heated by natural gas?

How itchy has it made you as result?

Can a brother get some context?

Quick search (I'm sure you can find other sources):

“Gas heater is much less expensive. The heat is much better. It’s a much better heat. Uh, as the expression goes, ‘You don’t itch.’ Does anybody have a heater, where you go and you’re scratching? That’s what they want you to have, they don’t want you to have the gas where you don’t have the problems of the electric”

I believe that remark was for electric heating of the home and, in fact, electric heating of a house does produce drier skin.

Here is his full unhinged statement...

“I don’t know what it is with ‘electric.’ This guy loves ‘electric.’ We’re going to be ending the electric car mandate quickly, by the way,” Trump rambled. “This guy loves electric, and he—we don’t have enough electricity, and then we have AI where we need more. And he wants to get, he wants everybody to have an electric heater instead of a gas heater.

That’s what they want you to have, they don’t want you to have the gas where you don’t have the problems of the electric,” Trump continued. “And the source is plentiful. They’re much cheaper to operate, they’re much better, they work much better, they look much better.”

“…There’s something wrong with ’em. There’s something wrong with ’em,” Trump muttered solemnly.”
From the supplied link.

I don’t know about y’all but when I have new guests, the first stop is my beautiful water heater locked away in the basement…….

There are quote in posts above and below yours. Pace yourself, if you are gonna Trumpsplain for the next for years, it’s a marathon, not a sprint!

Trump’s comments were about home (not water) heating appliances.

He was reacting specifically to Biden admin rules on water heaters so no, he was focusing on water heating. Donald does not want you attempting to "re-interpret" his words; please take care to stay in your lane and focus on blindly supporting him, rather than undermining him like you did here. Donald has little patience for disloyalty.

Did a bit of research. Both gas furnaces and electric heat remove moisture from the air resulting in dryer skin, and itching.

I think we all know that from experience.

Electric heat removes more moisture from the air than gas furnaces.

Donnie is bonkers - full on bat shit crazy.

Rereading the link, I have to agree, the article was misleading. However, if you get to faucets part, the crazy kicks back in.

Also dishwashers...

"They want very, very little water to go into your dishwasher. Almost none. And you know what people do? They just keep pressing, pressing, pressing. Keep it going."

The man has never run a dishwasher in his life.

Yep, although restricted flow shower heads are ridiculous.

They are bloody annoying. In Canada you can still buy full flow heads.

Maybe I should start a smuggling operation over our border.

That’s what an H 2B visa is for.

Did no one tell old Donnie they make these wonderful little things called humidifiers?

Or…you can simply put some water on the stove and let it simmer. (If you want to get real fancy…you put some aromatics in there and it even makes your house smell nice too)

Any type of heating system dries out the air in a house to one extent or another.

He’s so out of touch with the reality that Americans live. I bet the man couldn’t find a furnace in any of his properties let alone knows what type they are 😂

Whether you have soft or hard water is going to do more for whether you itch, then the type of heating element in your water heater.

Usually there is a small o-ring you can remove with needle nose pliers.

Our gas air furnaces include integrated humidifiers. Is this not a standard thing for furnaces?
