Watch RNC Security Literally Quash Free Speech With Actual Symbol of Free Speech
There have been metaphors of varying quality and degree thrown around at this year’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, but the Award for Most Absurdly On-the-Nose Imagery has to go to the RNC security staff who dealt with a Code Pink protester holding a ”No Racism, No Hate” banner following Dr. Ben Carson‘s speech Tuesday night. Now, Code Pink annoys everyone, so I get it, but if you’re going to eject someone for exercising free speech (which you’re allowed to do at your own event), don’t do it by literally assaulting that person with the physical embodiment of our right to free speech
No, she's trespassing on a private event and they don't have to let her stay.
Her sign is also a big lie and insulting.
She can be arrested and she should be......it's stupid and rude behavior.
How, exactly, is a sign that says, "No Racism, No Hate" in any way a 'big lie' or 'insulting'?
That's obvious, she's accusing Trump of being a hateful racist.....which is a lie.
That was easy.
The sign accused no one. But certain individuals apparently had reason to feel insecure about what it said. Gee, wonder why?

I dont know this website (seems like a biased fluff and hype site) nor do I think Im familiar with "code pink" but that aside it looks like the circus of politics continues!!!!
What do you think of this video? The even people have every right to remover her but what about the actions of others here?
Do you think its assault?
Do you think they are infringing on her free speech?
Do you think its attempted theft?
I read A LOT of fluff and hype on this and I want to know what you think.
after you have your own personal answers now ask yourself if they change if that was your friend, sister, mom, daughter, wife or girlfriend etc?
For my take I think its crazy that a sign that says no racism no hate bothers people, I think what they did to here is horrible and if that was my mom, sister, daughter, wife girlfriend etc I don't know if I could control myself. I also think things turn out lucky, she could have been pulled to the ground or worse yet over a rail or over seats.
Again SECURITY or STAFF removing her I have zero issues with, but the pulling at her and covering her head with the flag and surrounding her is something I would never tolerate as a person or by stander in that situation whether i agree with her or not.
Like I said The circus show made up of fluff and hype continues . . . .so said.
1.)No, she's trespassing on a private event and they don't have to let her stay.
2.)Her sign is also a big lie and insulting.
3.)She can be arrested and she should be......
4.) it's stupid and rude behavior.
Code Pink is obviously just there to cause problems. They can kick them out if they want.
For my take, I think its crazy that a sign that says no racism no hate bothers people.
1.)You don't have an implicit right to be on someone else's property to protest anything.
2.) Assault, ehh I don't know.
Seems like she was forcing herself through the small crowd and other than people pulling on her sign, I didn't really see any instances of assault.
3.) If it was a female family member, I'd think they were stupid, stupidity does not start with non blood relations.
The RNC and/or Trump's camp might say that the woman parading around holding up such a banner might be viewed as a distraction for convention goers. However, the bigger problem here is the optics!
The Trump campaign, as well as, the Republican Party both have a race/religious tolerance, anti-feminist problem. You'd think that a message of tolerance would be welcomed especially given how much the GOP has lamented being a "big tent party".
All these does is re-enforce the belief that the GOP is a white populist club.
1.) I agree 100% and said staff/security does have the right to remove her and im absolutely fine with that
2.) so if she was standing on the street and random people came up to her surrender her, tried to guide her in directions against her will, drape things over her head and block her direction that wouldnt be assault? again mind you im not sayign its black or white im just saying it seems like a definite grey area.
When is it ok for me to block your movement based on my wants against your will or cover you with something of mine or try to take your property from you? none of that is assault?
3.) well truer words could not be spoken and I agree 100%!!! lol but that doesnt answer my question.
If you had a daughter and somebody did what i just said how would you feel about that. heck lets totally change the situation to try and remove politicas out of it but we will keep everything the same based on legality.
your daughter goes to a sporting event, she has a shirt she is holding up and people dont like for some reason. Guys come up to her and literally cover her with say their shirts or a blanket, she trys to move away from them, they block her, now the blanket is over her head pulling on her, she removes it and again more people try to block her and not let her through. a couple of people now snatch at her shirt trying to tak it from her, almost causing her to stumble and she has to have a tug of war with them.
no assault? her property doesnt matter? . . again not being a smart ass just trying to get people to look at the reality of the situation and ignore things that dont actually matter to the premise of law and threat and property etc.
also let me be clear, security and staff can infact escort her from the building and impede her direction if she is not leaving, this is about random people.
Honestly it's a nonissue for me.
She was trying to get in CSPANs view, people blocked it because the GOP already has enough **** to deal with this year.
The army of protesters, counter protesters, counter-counter protesters, etc.
I don't think those people were security, but convention goers who tried to block her.
Well i partially agree, i dont think this changes anybody's mind but it is weird that the sign bothered anybody . . .
to be fair Its possible something happened before hand we missed or she was chanting something people didnt like too . . that doesnt justify anybody not staff touching her or blocking her im just saying there are thigns we dont know.
I agree that we probably don't know all the facts here. We only know how she was treated during the short video. We don't know if she was disruptive in any other way other than her walking around holding up a sign that read anything other than "Vote Trump" or "Make America Great Again". My point, however, is that if nothing else happened why would such a sign be worthy of covering up and its holder being booed and/or kicked out? You'd think she'd be welcomed.

1.)Compared to the sort of violence and "in your face" militancy we've seen against Trump supporters in cities like Chicago, Phoenix, Richmond, Burlingame, Salt Lake City, San Jose, Costa Mesa, etc. the "assault" on her appears pretty mild.
2.)Compared to what? This?
3.)No. The First Amendment doesn't give her the right to be an asshat at a private convention.
4.)Probably, but I can't get worked up over it.
5.) I'd tell her if that's what she wants to do go ahead and do it, but don't be surprised if she's accosted.
6.)The unstated inference we're left with is "You people are haters--bigots." Who wants to see that crap? I know I don't. And I'll bet she didn't walk into the arena holding that sign. She had to unfurl it once inside because she knew she wouldn't be making any friends with it.
Do you think its assault?

No, she's trespassing on a private event and they don't have to let her stay.
Was it a ticket-only event and she snuck in without a ticket?
The sign accused no one. But certain individuals apparently had reason to feel insecure about what it said. Gee, wonder why?
“What Trump is doing is an affront to human decency and a threat to our democracy.” said Chelsea Byers, a CODEPINK Campaign Director and the activist who disrupted Trump during his speech. “His hateful words against Muslims are insidious and the manifestation of those words will be aggression, violence, and ultimately war.”
