sounds like 1917 all over again for Moscow´s empire,) USA is 100% right , 4 islands belong to our ally Japan , and Moscow ´s illegal occupiers must leave them

"

For years, the United States has considered Russians born in the South Kuril Islands to be natives of Japan. This is stated in the rules for the drawing of green cards, published on the website of the State Department, the Japanese newspaper Hokkaido Shimbun drew attention to them.

“Persons born on the islands of Habomai, Shikotan, Kunashir and Iturup belong to Japan. P
ersons born in South Sakhalin belong to Russia, ”reads the instructions for those wishing to participate in the Diversity Visa program.

Its strategic importance stems from the fact that it provides access to ice-free sea routes from the Sea of Okhotsk, so these islands control the movements of the Russian fleet in the Pacific located in Vladivostok, and these islands provide the possibility of the Japanese naval launch towards Pearl Harbor in the Gulf of Hitokabo in the port of Iturup. US ally Japan is in the worst neighborhood in the world with North Korea right there, China and Russia, all within a stone's throw of the small island nation.

The US considers Japan to be the the UK of the Asia-Pacific and thus an ally of equal importance in the East as UK the island nation off the coast of Europe-Eurasia-Russia and the Atlantic is America's most important ally in the West. Japan is the island nation of the Pacific-East Asia to Hawaii, Australia and strategic defense partner India. Just retired Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has spoken for years of this "Democracy Diamond" of the Indo-Pacific region

In 1945 the USA, UK, USSR agreed to the Kuril islands going to Soviet Russia. However, USSR jeopardized this in 1951 by not signing a peace treaty with Japan who also signed a mutual defense treaty with the US. The Russian Federation inherited this refusal to sign a peace treaty with Japan.

Meanwhile the US in 2014 said officially the Senkaku islands south of Japan are included in the Japan-US mutual defense treaty, an act that stopped China cold from claiming and also threatening to take the islands militarily from Japan. Beijing did then declare an ADIZ over the Senkaku and said failure to respect it would have "severe consequences." So two dayze later the US flew two unarmed nuclear capable B-52 through the ADIZ, leaving Beijing to sulk. US, Japan, South Korea still regularly fly fighter jets through the swiss cheeze ADIZ to reinforce the point.

In April 2018 Russia held military exercises in the Kurils involving 2500 troops that set Japan in a tizzy. The shocked reaction throughout Japan was so negative in the extreme Putin turned around completely by September and offered to finally sign a peace treaty, which offer the proper Japanese considered a mockery of Japan-Russian relations. End of.

So we have what we've had, ie, Russians born in the Kurils considered by Japan and the USA as being of Japanese birth, the Senkaku islands off China and south of Japan as firmly Japanese and Russia still sucking its thumb -- along with China who's since quit bellowing about putting an ADIZ over the South China Sea.

Where China can deploy around 3,300 naval missiles and Japan around 1,600, the United States can deploy 10,000. Not all of these belong to the U.S. Pacific Fleet, of course—but around two-thirds do. And that means the U.S.-Japanese naval alliance could pack 7,600 missiles versus China’s 3,300.

“Whereas Beijing sees Tokyo as a declining competitor, it still views the alliance as a formidable strategic bloc,”

its clear that we have an upper hand with Beijing i am not talking about Muscovy, which has its fleet only on the paper

That Russian tombstone of an aircraft carrier caught fire docked for overhaul while a massive crane crashed across its deck. The Russian admiralty decided to junk it cause it was too far gone at that point.

The Russian Navy and MIC has killed more Russian submariners than any enemy fleet of destroyers ever has. Or could.

US Naval War College considers the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (Navy) to be the best in Asia even though the PLA Navy has a much greater tonnage.

Japan is moreover converting two helicopter carriers to F-35B "destroyer ships" and what the Japan MSDF calls a destroyer is often a light cruiser instead. The Japan constitution specifically limits the MSDF to the maximum firepower of a destroyer as defensive only. The two newly converted aircraft carriers will remain submarine "destroyers," ha. So what eh if they happen to sink a half dozen PLA Navy surface ships too whilst underway.

USAF War College considers the Japan Air Self Defense Force as the best in Asia and by far. All these Japanese Navy and AF guys are better educated, trained, equipped and led than any of the forces in Asia, although the SK AF comes in at a close second in NE Asia. The SK focus is on air-land battle while the JSDF emphasizes air-sea battle capacity and capability.

Japan Ground SDF (Army) is fully capable of defending the beaches and the cities also and especially against enemy special forces assaults that would seize strategic institutions and facilities. Indeed, Japan has completed shifting the bulk of its SDF from the North against Russia to the South against China. Russia at the Pacific relies more on its Navy that Moscow knows would lose its supply lines and bases in a conflict so the Kremlin doesn't expect much from it. Sort of a suicide fleet circa 1905 redux.

what is interesting ( terrible situation for Moscow´s empire) , China as well supports Japan´s claims " In 1964, came Mao Tse-tung's surprise endorsement of the Japanese island claims "

Yeah but the Boyz in Beijing will tell you Mao rescinded that after he died.

I wouldn't put it past 'em either.

They think we're the same as the Chinese who must accept everything the Boyz say about anything. So all they have to do is say it and presto it's done, overwith, finished.

Settled.
