Wash. has enough votes to legalize gay marriage

In large part this kind of reasoning is very much a part of the problem. Many people (not specifically you ric27) want the law of the land to reflect religious ideology.

Those of us who view the bible as not much more than historical-fiction would say that's exactly why people pick up the "separation of church and state" mantra and run with it.

If you have a religious issue with gay marriage then don't marry somebody of the same sex. Just like if you have a religious issue with Catholicism you don't belong to a Catholic church.

When laws are written based on a book of religion we are treading in places that become very dangerous.

I'll tell you what....My view on Gay marriage is the same as Obama's

Obama has not said that homosexuality destroys families or whatever bull**** you're now backpedaling from.

1 Obama has gone on record extensively that he is AGAINST gay marriage as a policy but is also against DOMA and a constitutional amendment

2 Obama is for civil unions and equal partnership rights

And? He's wrong. "Separate but equal" is inherently unequal. We've already resolved that particular question in this country.

Which is nice, but you still seem to be unable to draw a distinction between gay sex and gay marriage.

There is no harm done to you or anyone else by two men marrying eachother. That alone is enough reason to allow it. In fact, there are tangible benefits to allowing same-sex marriage.
