No, I'm not kidding.

Last month Rush Limbaugh remarked that the reason for "the re-establishment of climate change and global warming as a new primary impetus of the White House" is that "it offers the president opportunities to be dictatorial."

Jeez, now this is the kind of Limbaugh quote, overwrought and over the top, that makes it impossible to listen to the guy any more. He's been this way ever since Obama was elected. "Obama is out to destroy America" all the time. And now Obama wants to be a dictator, according to Limbaugh.

But hold on, at least one of them isn't denying it:

... Instead of denying that Obama’s actions are dictatorial, [National Journal's Lucia Graves] disputes Limbaugh’s implicit premise that there’s anything wrong with [the President assuming dictatorial powers]. Lest you think we exaggerate, her piece is titled “Obama’s Thankfully ‘Dictatorial’ Approach to Climate Change.”

According to Graves, Limbaugh “has it precisely backward: The decision to use executive authority is the means, not the ends.” And you’ll never guess what justifies the means: “It also makes a lot of sense when it comes to global warming given Congress’s failure to pass the Waxman-Markey energy bill in 2009, and, for decades before that, to pass any sort of comprehensive climate legislation whatsoever.”

Yes, it has come to this. Americans are being urged to submit to “dictatorial” government because democracy is incapable of controlling the weather.

These people have gone insane and want to destroy our system of government over a bogus issue.

It reminds one of Lamarckism, that bogus "science" of plant breeding promulgated by Lysenko in the USSR, who had countless real scientists sent to the Gulag or killed. It was plant breeding as an ideology just as mainstream climate science has become an ideology.

Similarly, scholars and commentators have called for climate skeptics in the US to be thrown in jail.

We are no longer immune from such horrid nonsense in the United States because the cultural values that prevent it are disappearing. No longer do liberally minded people value free speech, diversity of thinking, tolerance, free inquiry, open debate, and intellectual rigor. Instead we have the intolerance, ignorance, and rigidity of the hive mind.

He is a democratically-elected president exercising powers that a democratically-elected congress granted to him. Use of the word "dictatorship" is hyperbole.

Weird that you didn't pick up on that.

edit: No, wait. Not weird. The other thing. Inevitable.

Hyperbolic words start to be used like that when that democratically elected president doesn't follow his own laws and ignores ones he doesn't agree with. It's typical backlash and shouldn't be surprising.

Er, isn't Lamarckian theory in part correct due to recent epigenetic discoveries?

"I've got a pen and a phone"

Don't know why people get the idea he's being dictatorial. :lamo

Me neither. I have both of those things and nobody ever called me that.

So you're Obama? The President of the United States?

Er, isn't Lamarckian theory in part correct due to recent epigenetic discoveries?

Only in a very limited sense. Epigenetics is a world removed from what Lysenko taught. It's unlikely we will see a second green revolution rising out of epigentics.

Lysenko made practical improvements in farming methods not related to Lamarckian theory. Early on he won recognition by improving yields of grains. Later the USSR fell well behind the West in terms of farm production because under Lysenko it didn't keep up with genetic improvements in plant varieties. Eventually Lysenko fell out of favor.

[h=2] It’s on: Abbott’s message to David Cameron “Join skeptics in Aust, Canada, NZ, and India”[/h]
[h=3]The Australian PM wants Britain to join an anti-carbon pricing alliance with Canada, NZ and India[/h] Tony Abbott, Australian PM, has been shaking hands with Stephen Harper, Canadian PM, saying “it’s like a family”. They are both skeptical of schemes that aim to change the weather through fake markets which don’t do much to reduce emissions, but do enrich financial houses, lawyers and bureaucrats. Harper has applauded Abbott before, now Abbott is returning the favor.
The message is aimed at David Cameron, British PM, who has been quite the friend of the greens — leaving a legacy of “collectivist, bat killing, bird chomping, property-rights-destroying wind farms”, as James Delingpole would say. But Cameron got savaged by the UKIP skeptics in the recent elections. Signing up with Obama won’t solve that headache.
Obama, meanwhile, is trying to swing momentum back to costly climate action with his aim to bypass congress and use an executive order to enforce a 30% cut in US emissions by 2030. He’s on his own. Even the Chinese are watering down expectations (see below). New Zealand abandoned Kyoto II and tied themselves to the lowest value carbon credits there are.
Sydney Morning Herald has the video
All five Commonwealth countries now have “centre-right”-leaning governments but it is Mr Abbott’s personal and philosophical closeness to Mr Harper that the Prime Minister regards as most important.
The combined front would attempt to counter recent moves by the Obama administration to lift the pace of climate change abatement via policies such as a carbon tax or state-based emissions trading. It is a calculated attempt to push back against what both leaders see as a left-liberal agenda in favour of higher taxes, unwise interventions to address global warming, and an unhealthy attitude of state intervention.

Yep. I stopped listening to him years ago.

Though he is usually correct in what he says, he really does go over the top, and is a pampas ass.

LOL...

No, he's like that with any "demonrat." LOL... I call democrat politicians demonrats, not regular democrats.

I was saying that about Obama since before he was elected.

What's sad in the liberal masses eat their authoritarian crap up, and why I call liberal pundits demoncraps.

Such a high example of debate you guys set.
