Both men support restricting the 2nd Amendment and Johnson supports restricting the 1st. I think both are problematic for the Libertarian Party. The piece where Johnson agreed that the government had the right to violate your freedom of association by forcing you to violate your faith was surprising to me.
Both Johnson and Weld are moderate libertarians and governed in NM and MA as libertarian Republicans. Neither was a radical, and both accomplished a lot. It is a little surprising that the radical Libertarian (capital L) Party seems to be embracing them, but - great!
