Hey. MAGAs.

Call China and try to get them to pay for what Trump said they'd be paying for (that will be missing from your checking/savings accounts). You know, jacked up prices to your from ANY retailer that sells you stuff from foreign factories (that's really just a Trump tax on you, your family and your communities).

I guess prices won’t matter. Other posters are claiming Walmart shelves will be empty anyway. Make up your mind.

MAGA who defends Trump no matter what alleges hypocrisy against every non-MAGA because, he claims, on unidentified/unquoted poster said something at some unidentified time, and some other alleged poster said some other alleged thing at some other alleged time. Great stuff.

Hopes this help with your confusion: this here is a thread about Walmart announcing that Walmart is raising prices.

________
(Besides, did he forget that Trump folded almost immediately on his 25-50% tariffs on everyone and then folded 145% on China? Of course predictions are going to vary not only by person, but by what the last person in the room with Trump told his demented ass.

Unless Trump folds again, yeah, we're probably going to see periods of empty shelves for various goods from China. Possibly also those produced here using steel/wood imported from Canada. How are retailers supposed to gauge inventory requirements with Trump constantly spinning like a broken top? How are they supposed to gauge anticipated demand? So yeah, there probably will be shortages, and higher prices, but also depressed demand which is a counterweight to lower supply.)

It's just like companies like Ford taking a billion dollars loss when the consumers were suppose to be the ones paying for it.

Walmart sad face

Ford takes a billion dollar loss AND increases prices to consumers.

And that’s good news how?

Plus, would you care to explain how you arrive at that conclusion to the class?

What’s GOOD about companies taking losses AND price increases?

When nothing has been achieved? All because of the actions of ONE MAN - POTUS Donald Trump.

Walmart is the go to place for lower and middle income earners. The people who have the least amount of disposable income. It's sad but it's the reality of needless tariffs. Th8s whole mess is just so, so dumb.

Tariff money doesn't just disappear, it help fund our government so we can unburden other tax revenue sources. I should also point out that this will further empower the informed consumer to limit waste, price shop and make substitutions when necessary. Our landfills are already filled with cheap Chinese junk.

You mean like giving tax cuts to wealth people?

I’m sure they appreciate it!

You post about Ford and then talk about cheap Chinese junk…likely from a device made in China 😂😂😂

Interesting you favour a National sales tax however have you stopped to consider that the Constitution empowers Congress with the right to tax , not the Executive branch or do you just not care?

Get back to us when they actually do it.

It's a significant and regressive Republican consumer tax increase.

I'm so old I can remember when the left declared that Walmart was a giant uncaring multinational monolith that destroyed main street, and impoverished local communities and destroyed local businesses by paying slave level wages while selling lots of cheap junk from China.

Apparently all that is a good thing now.

The reason they are talking about this is they had to announce their earnings today.

Q1 Profit Tops Estimates

The world's largest retailer reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.61 on revenue that increased 2.5% to $165.61 billion. Analysts surveyed by Visible Alpha had expected $0.58 and $165.99 billion, respectively.

Walmart kept its fiscal 2026 guidance in place, and said it expects second-quarter net sales to increase by 3.5% to 4.5% in constant currency. Last quarter, the company said it expected 3% to 4% net sales growth from fiscal 2025's $674.5 billion, and adjusted EPS of $2.50 to $2.60 versus $2.51.3

They are profitable and they even beat their estimated earnings.

I mean I guess they could find cheap shit to sell from somewhere else. They could also just go back to buying and making stuff in the United States.

Since we are all worried about the Walmart earnings per share and lowered profits, what should they be paying their associates again?

You realize both can be true, right?

The empty shelves are going to be from shipments that never were sent from China because the importer didnt want to pay the tariff. The high prices will be from the stuff that the importers accepted and now costs a lot more - I could see a paradoxical surplus happening, since no one wants to pay a third more for things that arent necessities.
