Wal-Mart : High cost of low prices.

Did Wal-Mart screw your old lady or what?

Americans made the decision to buy from a company with the best prices, and the best selection. Nobody forced us to solicit Wal-Mart, and nobody should be able to step in and keep us from shopping at Wal-Mart. God Bless Wal-Mart.

I'm not the one yelling in my posts (calm down?). As far as Karate goes, give me a break. Don't you know I am a typical right wing, gun-loving nut, so I don't have any need for karate.

And I have been a gun owner and Gun Club member and a member of the NRA for years. I am also a partner in a small gunshop. So what does that mean? I can go around shooting people because i'm to scared to face them?
Really, you can have any opinion of me that you want to have. Your opinion of me doesn't mean jack to me! Its 'personal attacks' that effect me. Karate will calm you down from being personal when its not needed!
BTW: If you don't like my 'yelling' in my posts then don't read them.
See, I alwready taught you something!

I got another private message later on that started with "You have a big mouth."

Now this guy wants me to fly to Rhode Island so he can teach me tai-bo. Like I said before Sergeant, I don't wrestle with other men. Keep your liberal charm in Rhode Island where it's appreciated.

You are the reason I support the second amendment tough guy.

Check my posts. I have never personally attacked anybody. You started this mess with your "**** you and China too" remark.

As far as being scared of you, hell yeah I'm afraid of somebody who is so psychotic that they are willing to fly across the US to fight me (for free at that). Why take my chances with somebody who obviously has a screw loose . Like I said, I support the second amendment because of peaceful liberals like yourself.

This makes up for some of the negative economic impact. I would argue that having a centralized location for shopping saves residents money.
Whats the limit in that process? With centralisation, we essentially have the market's role partially replaced (i.e. domination of economic planning). The extreme is of course "one firm" and a form of socialism

Moderator's Warning:
Since challenges to personal combat aren't on-topic in the Economics forum, and there's no on-topic forum dedicated to challenges to personal combat, I would like to urge all forum users to keep such challenges to the off-topic areas of the site.

I'd also recommend that people not post their home addresses on public Internet forums. You just told everyone who reads these forums not only where you live, but what hours you're home.

I'm usually home after 5:00pm on week days except Monday and Thursday nights when I am instructing Karate.
My wife is a third degree Black Belt and we also have many weapons waiting for intruders.
I haven't shot anyone here in the states but she has twice. Once between the eyes in self defense when an intruder came at her with a knife and once in the legs.
So I feel safe leaving her with our two, two hundred pound Rotwillers outside roaming our yard and everything else around the house we have.

BTW: I DID NOT challange anyone to a personal combat.
NO comment about the PERSONAL attack against me???

Serg,

You started this mess with your "**** you and China too" remark.

Take responsibility for it. The "personal attacks" didn't start until after you took the conversation there.

I thought liberals were supposed to be progressive, but whenever GOOD change comes about you all complain about it.
I thought conservatives were supposed to resist change, and when change comes you support it. I think that's obviously the contradiction here.

As to progressives, the argument is that it's not GOOD change, it's BAD change. So your attempt at a point is lost if you listen to the OP.

If small business in small towns cannot compete with Wal Mart, then good competitive forces are not present in this economic model, and it is a virtual monopoly, i.e. a consolidate power such that no freedom of choice is applicable.

So, people should ensure that this freedom is maintained, and should stop the monopoly in such towns, if they value freedom and competitive market forces.

For larger cities, it's not as relevant because there is more pie and more competition. Surely you understand the difference here is not about Wal-Mart in a vacuum, it's about a titanic retailer in a tiny town.

Point taken, but where do we draw the line. If citizens of a small town campaign against Wal-Mart, and are successful in keeping them out that's fine. At what point do you feel like the government should step in and stop Wal-Mart. I don't believe any of our anti-trust laws are being broken, and there is no collusion.

Oh, and by the way I thanked you for turning this back into a peaceful debate with some substance.

nice, well it was all in good fun anyways. you are still free to come teach me karate whenever you are in the area. sorry about your new magazine subscriptions.

My main problem with WalMart is, as NCFY pointed out, they refuse to let their employees unionize. That is complete and utter bullshit and it is one of the very few areas where the government should interfere with business practices.

For those who complain about their sale of products manufactured in other countries I would suggest they take the time to study basic economics.

They actively oppose their employees unionizing because they like employing employees. There are laws regulating the unionization process, unions just say they're not allowed to unionize because they haven't unionized. The government already does interfere in their business practices.

I have read that they fire employees who attempt to unionize. As a disclaimer though I hardly follow their hiring practices. I heart WalMart. Two blocks from campus and I can get anything I need from booze to videogames their.

I worked at Wal-Mart for awhile, seven or eight years ago. Out of all of my videotape-based employee training, the longest and most intensive-- and most propagandic-- video was the one about the unions trying to "trick" Wal-Mart employees into joining unions to take their money and put their "competitive salaries and benefit packages" on the bargaining table.

They made it very clear that attempting to form a union would lead to termination.

The proper word is "there"

Please, in the future, don't let a lowly ignorant "high school only" graduate correct you.

Thanks

Knowing that I don't understand how you could say to me:
