After my divorce about 20 years ago, I drove through Quebec, coming home from Nova Scotia by traveling along the St Laurence Seaway. I believe it was two solid days of no one speaking English. Rough. I ended up in a club in Montreal and met a girl from Ottawa. We were both so thrilled to meet someone who spoke the same language it was love at first sight.

But its not another country which is the beauty of it all. The stimulating richness of the relationship between our dual "soliditudes" has long created both greatness and crisis and will continue to do so long into the future, because united we are way cooler and more interesting (and doncha know we need all the "interesting" we can get), richer and our hockey team dominant. now thats what We the North call a win win.
