How will Brexit go?

Sky news would be a more realistic proposition for UK news, no?

If the independent website weren't rather cluttered with videos and the times one paywalled, I would link to them more.

I still buy physical newspapers but haven't bought the guardian for about 5 years on account of a couple of things that really annoyed me, but its newsgathering is decent enough.

So linking to it gives me the double pleasure of winding people like you up and the amusement of laughing heartlessly when they inform me that I've read 4,100 articles this year and would I like to contribute. Sorroight lads, I bought your rag for several decades, you'll just have to get by without me.

hope that helps

You give yourself far too much credit in "winding people like me up". All the more remarkable is that you have no idea who I am to classify me to a group of "people". I guess you have already fitted me in a box in one single post lol. The Guardian is a biased news source, that's obvious to anyone with an objective mind. But please I love to be proven wrong, show me a guardian article with a positive argument for brexit.

Almost all breweries in the UK are owned by foreigners and most of the beer sold, is made in the UK.

The impact on the breweries is significant of course, but it is British customers and workers who will suffer the most.

I hear this alot when it comes to brexit. Yet wages have never been higher and unemployment is dropping rapidly in the UK. I'm not saying there is problems that haven't been caused by Brexit, any honest pro-Brexit person has always admitted to me there would be problems short term. But the roof hasn't collapsed in on our heads which is what the anti-Brexit people predicted would happen.

The UK was always destined to leave the EU at some point. The EU is heading towards federalisation towards an "United States of Europe", that is the ultimate goal and that is a place where the UK was never going to follow anyway.

Higher wages means higher prices. It is simple economics. But what does higher wages matter if there is nothing to buy?

Unemployment is dropping sounds good if the amount of open jobs were not at record levels as well.

That means a massive lack of workers that no amount of Brits can replace unless you go the cloning route.

You need immigrants, but they are not going to the UK because of the chaos in the UK government and frankly hostility of many Brits.

Over 10k foreign lorry drivers have been refused the last month's....yes the UK needs 100+k, but refusing foreign lorry drivers is insane. Same with fruit/veggie pickers. Brits are too lazy to do the job and since foreigners are not allowed in, the the produce rots in fields.

What we are witnessing was all predicted by remainers and it will only get worse. The UK left the EU and lost all its independence...the irony.

You classify yourself, first by getting pissy about links to the guardian, and then by expecting other people to do your research for you.

The economics editor of the guardian is pro-brexit, so I suggest you start there.

Another step to "freedom" looms! (We're still in the transition period) British food supplies are set to be further disrupted by Brexit.

Let's check the report card!

Brexit will suck. Of course, if Britain would have stayed in the EU, that would have sucked as well. Climate change is going to make things suck for everyone. Brexit is a detail. So is Afghanistan. I find it difficult to worry about a splinter in my thumb when the forest is on fire.

Brexit, the gift that keeps on giving. Water companies are now free to dump raw sewage in our river systems, due to the lack of treatment chemicals tied up by Brexit supply problems!

That explains the smell of crap coming from the UK 😁

This pre-referendum "Leave" ad highlights all the main areas of "benefit" from Brexit. Every single one a lie.

So I can remember this bus

Greenpeace-Re-brands-Boris-Johnsons-Brexit-Battlebus.webp

By the English Brexit liars, but Boris today announced they are going to raise the taxes. And he says the taxes are being raised to fund the NHS? For health and social care reform so he says, breaking his election promise not to do this.

But the most baffling thing is that the taxes are meant to bring in 12 billion a year. The EU was being sent 350 million a week, if you multiply that figure by 52 weeks, you would bet over 18 billion a year. So now they are going to need 12 billion and 18 billion a year?

More evidence of the stupid brexit lies made by the English politicians of the Tory party and Nigel ****face Farage.

Latest estimates are that Brexit is COSTING us £600m a week. The wheels fell off the bus pretty quick!

ouch, I am so sorry for all the people in the UK who voted to stay in the EU and, softy that I am, for all the vulnerable and poor English/Welsh/Scots/Northern Irish who voted for this shit show.

PayPal raises fees between UK and Europe

Not really surprised. Since handling payments between the EU and UK has become more of a hassle for PayPal, they have to raise their fees.
Yep happens when you have no deal on the matter. The Brits were offered a deal which was basically the same as when they were in the EU, but refused it since there were some banking requirements involved.

UK on course to drop from Germany's top 10 trading partners

This pattern also exist between UK and other EU trading partners. Due to Brexit and thus the increased hassle of getting goods into the EU or into the UK, Germany and UK simply do less trade with each other. Germany opts for alternatives within the Common Market. However as the article states there is an imbalance in this. Germany is dropping imports from UK in a much more dramatic rate than UK is dropping imports from Germany.

Nothing‘s on fire here…just an average British summer…same as I remember from the 70’s when I was a kid.

German products are certainly the most over rated. In the building business their products are over priced and not as good as British ones. I also think it’s better for the world if we all become a bit more self dependent both nationally and individually. Much of what we buy and import is unnecessary tat.
