I don't just think that. I know that.

1 in 10 women have been raped in the USA - and that does not include being raped in the future. 10,000,000 women are victims of domestic abuse EVERY year. But you claim none of those millions and millions of men ever would go after a prostitute. The only men who use prostitutes are the highest quality polite, respectful and disease-free dream men - every one an ideal candidate if the prostitute ever decides she wants to marry. :roll:

Or should we compare the rates of incurable STDs in prostitutes (thus spreading it thru society) than the general public?

The "Happy Hooker" is a myth. Claiming prostitutes have great lives pointing to some example is like claiming no one need ever work, just buy a lottery ticket - pointing to all the people who instantly became millionaires.

Why do you even ask? You've posted to do not favor full legalization.

So far, not one person has stated they REALLY favor legalization.

Now, the worst thing that happens to a prostitute is MAYBE a ticket or trip to the jail, let go the next day for time served. Prostitution laws are used to break sex trafficking rings.

What those saying they want "legalization" say they REALLY mean, is they want a piles of new laws dumped on prostitutes:

1. They most go on permanent government record as a prostitute (don't have to now).
2. They must be licensed (don't have to now).
3. Must report periodically for STD testing (don't have to now)
4. Must fill out an activity report to pay local/state taxes (don't have to now)

Since I'm confident well over 90% of prostitutes would do none of that, what fines would you impose and what happens when they don't pay it?
1.) Blow it off (meaning the regulations are nothing at all)?
2.) Or put them in jail for not paying all the fines?

Anyone say they favor full legalization? Anyone?

You're the one wanting all sorts of new regulations/laws dumped on prostitutes, not me. You want it far more illegal than I do. I just want it a petty misdemeanor and kept off the streets in terms of the prostitutes.

The plus of it being a crime is this makes it possible to bust sex traffickers MUCH easier.

The article didn't imply anything it is based on facts and data gathered over years and years.

the only thing you have is I say so which isn't an argument. almost 90% of prostitutes do not want to be one.
itt is probably higher than that. Most woman that are prostitutes are forced into it or traded into it.

There are a lot of messages going to extreme lengths to deny exactly what they are claiming at the same time in the same messages.

They CLAIM they want to decriminalize prostitution for the prostitutes - but say what they want done it to make prostitution far more illegal for different reasons. Those reasons are to protect people who hire prostitutes, not the prostitutes.

They say they want it not be illegal to be a prostitute for the prostitution itself. Rather, they want it illegal in many new ways - many new offenses prostitutes can be charged with (not just one) and all for not following the rules and paying the cut to their new pimp - the government.

The government pimp now is telling them exactly how they will behave as a prostitute, requires formally telling the world forever they are a prostitute via licensing, undergo STD testing and banned from prostitution if having one, and must routinely fill out documentation of how much a cut they have to give their government as their pimp - and then actually paying the government-pimp tax cut. Like a pimp, the government claims it is protecting the prostitute in exchange for the pimping fee.

That is NOT legalization. That is the government going into the prostitution business as the pimp over every prostitute within the governmental jurisdiction. Any prostitute that will not be the government's prostitute, do what the government says, fill out the paperwork the government says, confess worldwide for life to being a prostitute, follow all the other requirements, costs and rules, nor give the pimp-government its cut of profit then is to be crushed by the government like a pimp might do to one of his women who tries to go independent.

You are not entirely wrong, vegas giants. But that is because sex is imbued with a special significance. For example, our society and our lawas treat most other physical violations of people's bodies far less harshly than we treat physical violations of a sexual nature. If a man punches a woman and knocks out her tooth, he would be treated far less harshly under the law and by society than if he raped her. An adult who slaps a child is typically treated less harshly than an adult who molests a child. Do you think that is wrong? Do you think that violations of a sexual nature should be treated equally to any other physical violation? Or are nonconsensual bodily violations of a sexual nature so vile that you concede we should continue to treat them just as harshly?

And just so you understand where I am coming from so as to not beat you over the head with the Socratic Method: The reason I am asking is that if you concede that sexual crimes are especially vile, for whatever reason, then you are consciously or unconsciously conceding that sex is indeed special.

These points cannot be emphasized enough, joko104.

Prostitution's legalization and regulation is not for the benefit of women who find themselves in a position where they feel the need to sell their own bodies. It is for the benefit of men who believe they are entitled to purchase women's bodies for their pleasure. These are consumer protection laws. And the consumers are wicked men.

I know. Neither is organ harvesting nor child pornography going away. But even if we cannot stamp it out entirely, I have no interest in legalizing those crimes either for the benefit of giving license to wealthy consumers over the most vulnerable people within society.

Legalizing prostitution is not for the sake of protecting women. It is to protect men who believe themselves entitled to women's bodies.

Do you have evidence of this? Because by all accounts, human trafficking has gone UP in countries where prostitution has been legalized, and has made it harder to investigate human trafficking at the same time. A double indemnity if ever there were one.

Indeed. In my city there are university students who go 'on the game' temporarily to help with their fees. They can choose who to have sex with and enjoy it while getting a nice little bonus.
